hi guys

i was wondering if it could be the fuel because I'm running modelsport own make (which is crap)

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=23795

and it is pretty old now about 3 months and i keep it up my shed which the temp aint stable

and the glowplug i put in there about two weeks ago it couldnt b bad already could it ??

wat do u guys think ??

thanks brad

I was having problem recently with my plugs going bad very quickly (less than one tank of run time) and it ended up being that I was using the wrong temp. plugs. I got hotter plugs and everything is good now. Double check to make sure you have the correct plug for you fuel and outside temps. Also, make sure your tuning is good. Too rich and you will foul plugs quickly. As far as it being a problem with you fuel, I can't help with that. Maybe buy some new good quality fuel and give it a try and see what happens. Not sure what is available over there but I use Bryons 20% and really like it.

I'm gunna upgrade the fuel % I'm runnin 16% but I'm gunna get a gallon of 20% o donnel fuel or sidewinder or tornado either these I've never tryed them fuels (will i have had sidewinder and it ias pretty good as for the plugs i usually use os #8 but today i got firepower f5 and is working pretty good

I would think as long as you recapped the fuel bottle as soon as you was through, the fuel should be good. Also limited the return of fuel from your pit bottle back into the main fuel bottle. As for the plugs, I'm not sure on the plugs you're using nor the mil they're going in. I've had pretty good luck with McCoy 59's as well as a generaric Tower hobby plug. The TH plug is about 1.50 a plug cheaper. I've used them in my 2.5r and my OS.18'S if that helps. I would really try to see what temps your rig is running at, lean fuel mixture will ruin a plug as well as to rich.

I understand that the lower the nitro content the hotter you want your plug. so with 16% you want a hot plug. Bumping up to 20% will probably help and I have heard that O'Donnels is good stuff. You also have to take into account the weather. Warm weather plays a part in how hot or cool you want your plug too from what I have been told. All I know, I am using 20% and I had a cold plug and my MGT ran like garbage. Switched to a hot plug (McCoy MC59) and no more problems.

ok thats wat ill do bumbing up the % of nitro will i have to remove/put more shims on my engine if i do ???
pro .15bxs p/start engine

^^ that my engine

NF 123 I went back and looked at your SSK thread. No don't screw around with the shims, if you don't know what the low speed spec for your motor is it's not likely you'll know what to do about the shims when changing nitro content. Changing the shims alters the compression ratio and will most likely give you more troubles. Besides, anything from 16-30% can be considered "mid range" and you don't really even need to swap to a hotter or colder plug. You do, however, need to rerun a short break-in procedure if you change nitro percentage, no big deal.

So your original question fuel or glowplug ? I am going to suggest neither. TUNING. In your other thread,

wen i said the needles were at base settings well the high speed needle was but I've been screwing around with the low speed needle and i dont no wat the base settings are for that

Base settings (factory specs) are notoriously rich. I would venture to guess you don't need to change plugs, or fuel, but get a better handle on tuning, it sure sounds to me like you're just running too rich. Try leaning it out a little before putting a different plug in it.

During the summer, I normally leave my gallon in the trunk of my car. I'm not doing that this year, but if I ever do a bash with other people somewhere, it will make it to my trunk.

Although, a gallon normally doesn't last me more than 2-3 weeks during the summer, so it didn't sit in there long.

ok i aint gunna screw around with the shims

i tryed a new plug in my ssk now and all i need to do is retune it works fine until i retune

i guees I'm poop at tuning then but i always runa on the rich side thou

People make it harder than it really is. You lean out the high speed needle till it gets running well, then enrich it until it starts to blubber, then lean it back until it recovers performance. When you make your moves, be patient and give it 30 seconds to settle in to the new setting before moving it again. This is a rough outline, but it's mostly it and keeps you on the edge of rich.

I always run my truck around a few times in between adjustments. Then I check her with the temp gun. If I have to make adjustments, I don't do them larger than 1/8 turns at a time.

Best of luck with her and don't let her get to you.
