Having looked at various threads on this forum, i've noticed that some poeple have been re-routing their fuel filters and fuel lines on their LST away from the traditional route between the engine and the fuel tank, what is the benifit in doing this?

I haven't seen anybody doing that but I guess they are trying to keep it away from the engine so that ithe filter won't get to hot . Now that I think about it , that is a good idea .

The filter moved away from the cooling tower will make ur rig much easier to tune and drive, due to the fact that you are not boiling the fuel in the filter before it can get to the motor.

I ran mine with extra fuel line along the chassis. It was a bit much but I have never had a flame out due to fuel.

Got to dig up the pics..

Thanks for those thoughts, the only thought I came up with was that it would keep the fuel at a lower temp in the filter aswell as it entered the carb. This making the engine easier to tune. If any of you have any pictures of your rerouted fuel lines filters I would be interest in seeing them.

Well, this is mine:

I run the line out of the bottom around the lower front of the tank to the back of the tank, then up behind the shock tower to the fuel filter. Out of the filter, I wrap between the tank and shock tower over to the right side of the tank into to the MGT primer bulb to the carb. So the line ends up being relatively long, combined with the MGT primer bulb gives me decent lid run time.

Nope. Run one on my jato as well. Need to get another for my savage... hopefully will pick one up today. I ran one on my jato and aftershock all of last season without a single problem. I like the convenience of it so I don't have to blow in the pressure line for the first start of the day.

"So I don't have to blow in the pressure line for the first start of the day" ? - What ? Why would you have to blow in the pressure line, why don't you just hold your finger over the stinger to prime it when you first start it ?:\

That doesn't work as well or as quickly with a pull-start engine. Besides, then I get the oily gunk all over my finger.

Yeah, I guess your right, to each his own ! I can't stand pull-start, which is why I have a roto-start and that's what I do & I never get the oily gunk all over my finger.......just where are you sticking your finger ? :hehe:

Attached picture of relocated fuel filter on my LST. Replaced the standard factory fitted one with a Dynamite Big Daddy. Will let you know how it runs when I've finished clean & servicing it.

Yeah, I hope when I've finished servicing & upgrading a few parts, it runs better using this route as its was a bit if a pig to tune before. Will keep you posted on how it goes!!!

Right on, that's cool ! Let me know how that Big Daddy fuel filter works for ya too, Thanks !

Alright Taz, ran my Lst for the first time with the Big Daddy filter & relocated fuel pipes. So far so good. For some reason it primed up easier than it did before. Will keep you post on how it works over the next few week ok. When you get your new parts fitted to your LST post put some pictures online. Are you relocating your fuel lines when you fit the new filter?

It is also smart to remove the Fuel Tank Primer as well. It will give you guranteed trouble later on down the road. I've never heard of anyone with one of the LST's that hasnt had problems with it eventually.

I actually got all the new parts including a Big Daddy air filter for my LST2 put on, so now I'm rumming 3 fuel filters.....the Big Daddy(Red), an Axial, and the stock Losi blue one.:D I actually kind of did relocate the fuel lines, now they run still run on top of the gas tank, but they go around the back of it behind the lid and back around.;) I put the extra Big Daddy filter in the Axial and the Axial filter in the Stock one. I was running 2 filters, so I figured why not just add a 3rd into the mix....still seems to run really good with a little bit more extra run time.;) I also installed Lunsford Turnbuckles in my RPM A-arms and a Lunsford Turnbuckle kit. I will have to try and get some pics posted for ya.

That's funny because I have never used mine since I got it and I've still never had any trouble with it.;) So why mess with something that I'm not having problems with, basically why fix something that isn't broke ?:D
