Ok, i have a Tmaxx 3.3 i just replaced the motor in. I can get it to run but not at factory specs. I have to fatten the low idle up maybe 1/8 turn. not that big of deal, i can run it up the road and adjust high speed idle, but i can't get my low speed idle into the 3 second pinch, if i richen it to much it will not run, no matter what i do. My temps are crazy high like 280-300 range, even at factory setttings, and my idle is very erratic at factory settings, do you think i could have an air leak on a brand new engine?

Thanks Alot.

Don

You sure can have an air leak on a new mill. Seal it up and start at factory settings. Every engine I sealed has showed the benefits. It basically made them run right when everything else failed.

Were u catious on run in proceedure???? check ur carb for dirt and fine elements that can cause tuning issues, slide, needle, tuning screws etc: do u run a fuel filter??? I found when I have this problem I just clean my fuel system thoroughly and all is fine, also having the correct glow plug for your climate is crucial...Cheers Matt..

I did run in like traxxas said, i do run a fuel filter, but it seems clean. one thing i have noticed is that my slide is fairly loose in the carb. Could that have anything to do with it?

Metal head, what procedure do you use for sealing?

The slide is fairly loose? Like it wiggles from side to side? If so, then you may be getting a leak in the carb itself.

Do you still have your 2.5 carb? I believe they are the same and you could just throw it in and give it a go.

I use the copper, sensor-safe, high temp rtv. I apply a thin coat to the o-rings on the backplate, carb throat and the header. I use blue locktite on the screws.

OK, i pulled the motor and hooked fuel line up to the carb, opened the slide covered the carb and blew into the line while brushing soapy water on the slide. Got some bubbles coming around the slide no where else. what next? New carb, ziptie round boot. i just dont see that leak causing all these issues?
