RC Driving Style
I have Recently bought a sportmaxx with money i had aquired throgh working and christmas. i have been driving it on our half mile long road On our land, and it kep spinning out, and i knew it was the RWD. I was too cheap to buy the 4WD kit, So i Spun the Phillips Head for about 3 hours, adn whalah! front wheel drive. I took out the rear diffs and driveshafts, and fitted them to the fron differentail yoke, and there i was, a perfect straight line run down my road at 40 mph. (AND IT WAS ICY). so if your Cheap and want to go STRAIGHT:ahh: Then you should try it. ( and please if you tell someone else, please dont take all the credit...

I would like some comments and questions on this subject, and maybe some ideas to make this better.

sounds sweet, my sportmaxx is on the way as we speak should be here in a few days, going to get a SS kit in a few months once they become more available but for now just wanted something to play around with for a while.

Do you happen to have any pics?

I Have Uploaded some pictures of the change, and some other things. Enjoy!
And what is an SS kit?

I had my rear center axle break and was left with only front wheel drive. The damn thing wouldn't hardly go anywhere. Just sat there and spun mostly. I was driving in 2" grass though. Not pavement or dirt.

I had my front axle break to, and i couldn't keep the front end down. But handling sure sucked. Couldn't turn to save my life.

This is with a 21 conversion though. The extra oomph just wouldn't let it steer.

Mine steers better than before, and i also have onroad slicks, so that makes a difference, but it slips too, but it is for SNOW to keep STRAIGHT. ok?

and also your diff was connected in the back. mine rolls freely

Yeah, that would make a bit of difference. It rolled, just not completely without some drag.

I used imex medium rubber for snow. It was a soft compound with soft inserts. Gets around a hell of a lot better than the stock tires. The only thing those are good for is when it's warm out.

front wheel drive for snow works better then rear, and it works much much better

Sounds like a good snow mod, Will.

Once it dries up you'll probably want to change it back.

I forgot to LocTite the screws on an outdrive cup for the rear center axle (T-Maxx). Once rendered front wheel drive the front wheels would spin very easy under power. Even on pavement.

Oh yeah, no posting in the "All Wheelies" forum with front wheel drive.

hey couldnt wheelies in reverse still be possible with FWD? hehe.
i had only rwd with 24.7 power, and the truck wouldnt move at all...not even while feathering the gas. no fun.

When i blew my rear diff on my t-maxx, i kept driving it with just front wheel drive in the snow, and it worked very good. but I'm still waiting for my RRp steel diff gears to come. Rc Boys sent my package to the wrong house. so its been like a month. but everything is all straightened out and the package is coming to me now.

I also have a sportmaxx I'm hopping up, and i was debating on putting the diff in the front or not. i think i might just for the heck of it. But my s-maxx is pretty much completely ripped apart, waiting for my pro-line suspension kit and putting a new OS .15 CV-X.

I ran an OS .15 cv-r(x) on my maxx prior to converting to a 21rg. I used stock gearing at first, then i dropped the clutchbell to 18 teeth. The damn thing would run to hot for my taste. Excess of 250, which is partially why i went .21.

I just don't think the 15 had enough power to lug the thing around. Maybe if i would have gone to rear wheel drive only, but i never thought of that. Less weight, moving parts... probably would have helped.

Why do u want the CVX, just wondering??

because i love OS engines and if my memory serves me right, the (X) versions are more for racing and I'm not a racer I'm a basher. plus is was only $85, and i have had this engine before in other R/C's.
