Red RC website features an announcement by Avid of 'forged' carbon fiber shock towers. That was a new one for me, so did an online search and came up with multiple links. One provided below in the event you're like me and unfamiliar with the process. -AC

Avid Forged Shock Towers

Forging carbon fiber

I recall working with fiberglass in the late 1950s, early 1960s. My dad had a side hustle repairing fiberglass boats. As a teen in high school and still at home, yeah, I was enlisted to help. 25cents and hour supplemented my then $2/week allowance. Started with weave, then progress to mat and then to chopper guns spraying a mixture of fiberglass and resin.

Chopper guns were an industrial thing. Economical and quick. Unaffordable for dad. Similar I think to what I'm reading about forged CF? Regarding forging CF, it "looks" better than the laminate I'm used to seeing. And if it eliminates the de-lamination that sometime occurs in CF sheet w/o sealing the edge with CA glue, all the better. A plus there. Reading the info, it comes in a bit heavier than laminate. Only the RC pros will notice the difference in performance?

Curious to see where forged CF goes in comparison to 3D printing. Comparing apples and oranges, maybe? -AC
