According to tracking, mine is loaded on the delivery vehicle again today with a delivery estimate of 9:45 AM to 11:45 AM. We'll see...
Well, like yesterday, my delivery time estimate has now been changed to "By 9:00 PM". And "the Follow My Delivery map is no longer available" and has been unavailable all day. It just showed up (1:30 PM) but I have somewhere to be in about an hour so I won't get to run it today!

At least the delivery part is done! My new motor was shipped without tracking.. . Which is often equally useful .
 
Ok, prob mostly dyslexia happening but its been multiple times I've scrolled by this title quickly and thought I read 'PM fun shaver bronco sale' 🤓

Got to run mine today, gotta admit I don't see a need for brushless in this.
I've had no problem traction rolling on our dirt road! 🤣
Looks like it's faster than scale speed with the brushed motor.
Yep....I'll let ya know how the brushed 390 is. I expect great things. I want it to run the whole battery and not get hot, and a mild performance boost. I mean just enough to land 3 to 5 inches further out off the jump . Would make for a really clean transition into the next turn on my little 8.

FMS has some great vehicles for beginners, and probably for intermediate enthusiasts as well. If I didn't have my F100 I would consider the Bronco. My 1/10 f100 is a lot of fun, and it looks like the Bronco would be as well !
 
Mine is easy to control and runs cool with the throttle restrict setting on. At the 100% throttle rate setting, the motor gets extremely hot, as others have experienced/noted.

Also, my shocks were sticking in place initially but operated after being compressed by hand. Later, at least one of the rear shocks was binding and extremely stiff. I took apart the shocks. They all functioned normally until the bottom threaded cap was tightened, then the binding happened.

After a rebuild with Super Lube on the O-rings, 22.5WT shock oil, and ceramic lube on the shafts, they did a little better but still seem to have too much drag from the bottom O-ring stack. Backing off the bottom threaded cap a bit eliminates almost all the binding. Hopefully, the caps will stay in place in that slightly-loosened state.

I think this vehicle would benefit greatly from a shock upgrade and a motor fan.

One other important thing I forgot to mention: Tightening the rear wheel nuts to "normal" torque caused excessive drag. I was thinking that this might be the cause of the motor heat issue so I loosened them to where they didn't cause drag and ran the truck some more. The motor still got very hot. :(

It is brushed yes? Try a better quality motor or a longer can? Make sure the heatsink has a good connection with some thermo-paste in between the surfaces. You don't need a ton in there. I wonder if it needs to be stripped down to see if there is some drivetrain drag. Grease/lube gears, check all the bearings and grease them, maybe upgrade to a better set of bearings overall, check pinion to spur mesh. Maybe the pinion is too large? It could be a number of things, a fan on the motor is really last resort when it comes to heat.
 
If it is brushless, I would still go through the drivetrain and be completely certain something isn't binding up and gear mesh isn't to tight. That goes for motor to spur and in the diffs.

I had previously checked the driveline for binding after finding that the rear wheels would bind if the wheel nuts were tightened too far. Everything turned without drag and the metal pinion/spur gear interface was set properly. The differentials were smooth and not binding. I did find some marks on the drive shaft where a small stone must have become wedged between it and the chassis at some point (it was no longer there).

One thing I had noticed this morning was that the heat sink was not making good contact with the motor. Its fins were too long near the bottom and were keeping it from slipping down under the motor. The last fin was hitting the chassis and preventing the heat sink from sliding completely into place. Because of that, only the far ends of the heat sink were contacting the motor with the rest being arched up out of contact.

I was thinking that might have been the motor heating issue. I filed down the last heat sink fin and a bit of the bottom end of the base. It would now slide far enough under the motor for the heat sink to fit correctly, in full contact. I smeared on some Arctic White compound and snapped the heat sink in place and headed outside with a charged battery in the little truck.

The suspension did perform better after rebuilding the shocks and backing off the bottom shock body caps to relieve the binding. Excellent... some success. I ran the pack out doing full-throttle pulls as I drove the truck in a large oval on the driveway. I found the motor was still hotter than I'd like but possibly not as hot as previously. I also lost one of the light lenses. I put on one of the provided spares and dabbed some ShoeGoo on the clips of all the lenses in hopes of keeping them from popping off. I was unable to find the one that popped off.

Although the motor gets hot, it does't seem to be a problem. I forgot to bring the non-contact thermometer with me to check the actual temp. I'll try to remember to do that the next time I run the truck.

This little hundred-dollar truck is fun. With the suspension tweaks and rear wheel binding relieved, it's better. It would be nice if someone will eventually offer a set of upgrade shocks for it.

A HobbyWing brushless system for it would be about $70 and then I'd also have to swap out the radio gear as the truck came with a combined receiver/ESC unit. It also lacks some steel driveline parts that the bushless version has so I'm not sure it would hold up to the increased power. But I am satisfied with the performance as is, and would probably just spring for the brushless version or a brushless Arrma Mojave Grom if I felt the need for more power and speed.

I haven't taken the shock measurements yet...but they look close by eye to the shocks on my mini b. Which there is a huge aftermarket for.
