It's been warming up here. Touched 70 today and yesterday. Got out in the yard and ran 1 battery through the truck. First time I have actually driven it. Seems to handle quite well even without any adjustments to the suspension. It does have some sluggish performance however. There are some interesting ideas from the manufacturer. Sounds like it will handle 3s electrically. They throw in a caviat about it being for experienced operators on 3s, and best done after a motor upgrade. The motor did get hot during the run, around 130f. I expect a brushless conversion is coming for this soon enough.
Managed to gather a lot of yard debris in the chassis. Grass, dirt, and a whole lot of sun baked rabbit poop.

Overall it's a fun truck, just needs more power.

New motor appears to be a big success. Went out and ran it for a bit. It's faster, it wheelies better, it's not uncontrollable in my small yard space. Looks like I can hold off on brushless for a bit ...although it may very well happen at some point.

I put a 3s battery in this today. It went fine for a while...then the magic smoke started coming from the motor. It happens...to me
I hope you were able to salvage the smoke at least!!!

Whats next? Brushless system should fit nicely in there... right? 🤔

New brushless esc ordered. Only rated for 2s, but the motor is way more than it needs so I'm not worried about it,lol.
Is the capacitor voltage rating on an esc what determines how many ssss it can handle, or are there other components you would have to swap out?

Very powerful and dangerous...View attachment 270173
If THEY aren't in control, you're CLEARLY not in control... we're ALL in trouble!!! 🤯

Very reassuring so far! Is the next page a waiver you must sign acknowledging sudden, massive current from esc may stop pacemakers and other hearts, healthy or otherwise. 😲

Did I miss it? What liability free brand is this again? 🤣

The entertainment value of this statement is almost worth what I paid for it. 120a brushless esc for 20 bucks.
I see no branding available...https://ebay.us/m/YRYkCr

Don't forget to salvage the magic smoke! 😉🤣

This has been a very underwhelming brushless conversion. I have reached out to the seller to see if they offer a program card. The upside, the motor has zero issues with heating up like the old set up.
Can you install a bigger pinion? That should get your speed up. If you have no temp issues, you should be safe to start experimenting. Watch temps adding a tooth or 2 each time. 😎
