The bigblocks shoould be similar in size. as far as a flywheel< if you have a new motor than spring the 20 for a flywheel and new clutch. Whenever possible I start a new engine fresh from the inside out

At first I couldn't find any LHS that had any in stock and didn't want to wait to break it in. But one of my buddies just happened to have a new fly wheel and clutch kit so he sold it to me for 20 bucks. thanks for your help

If you're switching engine makes, one "mod" that may come into play is the flywheel collet and/or shim combo.
The collet is the brass cone that the flywheel sits on.

You can usually pull the old collet (& shim) and migrate them with the flywheel over to the new engine, but I've seen instances where the collet & shim combo that works for one engine misaligns the clutch bell to the spur gear when placed on a different make engine.
