Welcome to my first build thread. Got an old Team Associated SCT 2WD off of eBay and I want to fix it up to be used by friends who come over to bash and race.
Starting off with the chassis, it looks to be a sc10 but i really don’t know. It does say AE, so please let me know so i can find parts and upgrades for it. The front bumper is this maroon red color that i don’t like but it might be RPM because it’s very flexible? I would like to replace or paint it. The suspension arms look fine but the turnbuckles and steering links are rusted.
I don’t know a lot about servos and different steering options but i would like to mount the servo closer to the front to save space. I also have no idea what a ‘MAT super servo’ is so tell me what a good servo would be for mostly moderate bashing and light racing. Nothing too powerful or over the top.
In the chassis tub, there are some holes drilled into the metal and will fit the Venom 2S batteries I use, but nothing to secure it. It originally came with an old Traxxas transmitter and receiver with a long antenna and crystals. Thinking of doing the Traxxas power up program or using a Spektrum SLT3 combo from the local Hobby Town.
The motor and ESC I already upgraded to a Castle Sidewinder brushless combo. Still haven’t put a battery connector on. The pinion and spur gear look fine along with the driveshafts and rear suspension arms. The underside is a little scratched up but I’m not worried about that.
It also came with a custom slash body which I’m not to fond of. also thinking of switching to a pro-line secure loc body system.
I hate the wheels and tires. I don’t know how to get them off. The front ones are held on with some small black, plastic nut thing, and the back wheels are on an odd metal hex that is bigger than the standard 7mm. Help me out.
It seems like a lot but i think i can put it together with the help of everybody on RCTalk! Oh, and of course the pictures.
