So some teeth chipped off the reverse gear in my tranny today. I am torn between repairing the damage or doing a foward only conversion. Is there a big difference in the foward only conversion and a truck with a center differential installed?

The forward only is a wise choice. Center diffs are good for racing, but you need a rear brake kit and you'll lose the ability to do wheelies. You could put super thick diff oil in there but that kind of defeats the purpose of a center diff.

If your a basher then stick with the Forward Only Conversion and if you race then go with the center differential with the rear brake kit.:)

Unless you intend on running a larger/more powerful engine in the future. I found without a center diff and a big block... I was getting wheelies all the friggen time.

Running a center diff may also help with drive train wear. Like twisted axles or blown front/rear diffs. So, it may be good for a basher as well.

I'm a basher and when I blew reverse out of my Revo shortly after getting it, I did the FOC and added the center diff and rear brake kit. I did it so I would have better brake bias adjustment.

I have put some thought into it, I'm racing more and more with this truck so I think I'm going to get center diff.

I upgraded to the center diff. and added the rear brake kit. Man what a difference that made in the handling and performance on that truck.

Wish I could compare the two. I put a FOC in mine when I shaved my reverse gears teeth off(all of em). I noticed with the FOC I can pretty much pull a wheelie when ever I want. Just throttle out a shmig and nail it. Comes right up every time. Actually gets a bit annoying some times.

I love the center diff in my truck, it made a world of difference in the balance and handling of the truck. Even with the diff. though, the truck will still pull a wheely on a high traction surface with pin tires bolted on.
