Well, my parents told me no more offroading in my Jeep, so I need a new hobby. There's a small dirt track near my house and it seems like it would be real fun to race out there.

I assume a truggy is what I'll need to race on a dirt track. I don't have a budget just yet, but I'll have one as soon as I find out how much my Jeep is going to cost to fix :hehe: Hopefully under 1K.

So, what would yall suggest? I need something that is reasonably priced. Around 200-350 is probably about what I can spend at the most. The truck will need to be reliable enough that it won't break on me every weekend, though.

Thanks for any and all help.

Would this be a good first truggy? I want something that I can do some local races with right out of the box, but I can upgrade and tinker with over time. The 400$ price tag isn't too bad, either, but is still more than I want to spend.

Truggy -vs-Buggy

My youngest son and I have Losi's and they are the bomb. My oldest wanted a truggy so he bought a Traxxas Slayer. Wile it is fast as all get out. (I love the 2 speed transmission). The truggy is just way too high for the speed. It rolls and rolls and rolls no matter how slo you take the corners. Total waste of money if ya ask me. just my observation.

Well, the slayer is not a Truggy at all. The Slayer is a CORR truck. It's a Revo Platform. Truggys are just a bigger buggy with bigger tires. Flat chassis and nothing below the chassis. If he wanted a Truggy he should have researched a bit as to what a Truggy was.

On a side note, I built a Slayer out of 2.5 Revo chassis I had. Damn that thing was wicked fast. kept it a month and sold it.

My bad, I thought it was a truggy. No mistake. it is dang fast! Just can't seem to keep it on its feet. 1 problem I noticed is that the front brakes hit alot harder than the back. he has only driven it once. If I can get him to sloooow down a little and back off the front brake a little. he might have a little better luck. It is a whole lot diferent than driving the Losi.

Set his throttle endpoint to about 70% and back his brake off a bit. They really don't handle that well though in general. I ran mine on the track a few times and it was just silly.

I drove it for awile yesterday, It's Ok to mess with. He can see his mistake already. I could hear him asking his brother how much our Losi's were. He will probably go get one so he could eventually keep up..
