First Paint Job

Ok, I wasn't confident in my abilities so I used a Prographix body and just painted the final color. But, I think it was a good trial run and that I might plunge off into doing a full on paint job on a Proline body. What do you guys think of the job on this one? It is Translucent Grape backed by Basic Gloss Black. I didn't expect to end up with a color-shifting effect but I like it.

Think a body done in this one color would look good? Or maybe try this as a main color with yellow flames?

One thing I am scared of is trimming the body. Are curved scissors the way to go? Or is there a better (easier to not screw it up) way?

Any and all feedback will be appreciated.

Curved scissors and a dremel with a drum for the wheel wells. Score and snap with an X-acto knife for everything else.

Added a few decals to the body--nothing major. Didn't put on the side windows nor the head and taillights--just couldn't cover that paint...

Thanks Ralph. Guess I need to get some additional tools--curved sissors and a body reamer are on the list...

No body reamers here. I use a tapered stone in a dremel. Easy to adjust the center while grinding, which you can't do with the reamer. The stone will leave some melted flash which cleans up easily with an X-acto.

Those bodies make it easy to get a nice customised look. It looks good but I hate purple, just personal for reasons I'm not getting into here!

I say go for a full custom painted body, you'll enjoy it even you end up not exacly like you wanted. The best painters had to start rough too

I just spent 20 bucks on a reamer today and I never even thought of that... Damn!

Looks good man, I'm not much of a painter myself I just try to keep it pretty simple, and I like that idea for putting holes in the body Rolex, I have been using a body reamer and it works pretty good for me, but I will have to try your idea next time I need to put a hole in one of my bodies...

Thanks guys! Will be doing a full-on paint job as soon as the funds allow. I have been down with out pay since the 19th of December so it might be a next month sometime.
