Nascar - Hamster on spinning wheel.............

They do show some impressive driving ability, but I just don't see the fascination.

It's just like anything else. People are drawn by the popularization. But everybody has their own reasons I think. I didn't become a Nascar fan out of the blue and I wasn't raise around it either. I had a friend that was a fan so I in turn became interested. My buddy used to always make the point that he used to be the guy that was making fun of it, and I never really got it either when I was younger. I would guess that most people end up finding somebody (a driver) that they feel they have something in common with. Somebody that they feel stands for somthing they believe is important. Now that prospective fan has something and somebody to cheer for.

all that has to be true, and on top of that, if you actually sit down and watch a race, there can be some pretty exciting/intense moments. people at school are always talking about how "pointless" or "***" nascar is, but i bet none of them have watched it for more than 5 minutes strait

There must far between nascar fans who pronounciate..............how else do you explain the many #24 haters. :stick: J/K sorry man just couldn't resist.

I think I might catch some races now, and I do love my motor-sports. And now that we have them with original commentators instead of local ones, it should be better.

Sorry bro, I'm not following that... ??

Glad to hear your going to attempt to watch a few races. I've been watching F-1 here and there the last couple years. I have a great appreciation for the sport but the reason I havn't become a true fan yet is probably because of popularity. I don't know how else to explain it, there's about half a dozen guys at work I can chat with about Nascar but nobody that watches anything else.

This year I'm going to try to follow more. Definately F-1, and probably more Indy and Champ Car than I have in recent years. What I REALLY like watching is touring car stuff. European touring car stuff like the DTM or the series that races the smaller stuff like Civics. I'm gonna try to look out for V-supercars on Speed too. I wish there was better coverage of the JGTC but that's never gonna fly here in the states.

i watch a little everything, but all i really follow is nascar..i go the NHRA stuff every year though..theres nothing like 8000 horses at 330mph

Lessen it's from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Jeff Foxworthy said the reason why so many hate Jeff Burton is because they can't understand what he's saying.

Touring cars are great. I love they way they bump each other constantly. This summer I'm going to the Le Mans 24hours race. It's my second time, and I can't wait for summer.

:goodpost:And you get to sniff someone else's nitro fumes!

Ahh... I truly don't understand why so many people don't like him. Oh well.

That's awesome that your going to the 24 hours. Some day I want to go to an endurance race.

Man Le Mans is a blast. 5 days of nothing but cars. You see so many nice cars it's almost sickening. And you have the roar of V8's and what not all through the 5 days.

Here are a few mood shots from 06. My favorites by far are the Corvettes. Followed by the Lamborghini Murcielago judging by sound.

If you watch for a while you will start to see the strategy unfold and it becomes more interesting. Then you pick a driver to like and start bad mouthing is rivals, then your a Nascar fan LOL

It's hard to beat 40 800hp cars running around 200mph only inches apart!

I have secretly been a fan of #24 for a couple of years. :surrender

Congrats to Newman, good race!

Just wondering, is it me or did anyone else notice that the bill's on the driver's hats look enormous? They all looked like those sailor hats you see!

It was a great race. It kinda got strung out a bit there in the middle parts of the race, but the finish was worth the price of admission. Congrats to Ryan and his crew.

The cool part about the Newman winning, was that Ryan's crew chief's mom works with me. Kinda neat.
