I felt like this deserved a new thread
so I have finally got my truck running and have been having so much fun with it the last few days! I'm so happy with it finally!!!
last night I was doing some drifting on dirt and some donuts and some spead passes!
the stock sh .18 had 1hp and this one has 2.1! from what I did run my old motor this has so much more torque and speed even though it still has that noise
I've eaten through 3 tires now with this motor.... I have one decent now left, 2 with washers holding them on and one ready to fall off lol
tonight I was running it with all the 40+ trick or treaters they were all loving it kids and parents ! it was racing and a little wet so I had to stop when I lost my steering servo=( but what I'm ordering next is:
4 brand new tires $22(29 usually)
2 speed tranny with clutch bell gear$13(16)
set a and b drive cups 8.50 totall(13)
and a free glow wrench!
I'm also going to get a new servo too,
and I need all new shocks down the road.
I go through the same guy on eBay as he gives me great deals and I usually get my stuff in 3 days no more then 4.

with the new tires I'm buying washers so I don't eat through them like I did these, and I'm getting drive cups because all mine have been partially ate through due to previous owner.

the thing is I'm now reaching 400 into it...... but I'm happy, once ill got my new parts I'll have a pretty much brand new truck, but with an upgraded 2 speed, a upgraded motor with a total of 2.1 hp a set of used tires if needed a motor I can rebuild cheap or repinch, 3 glow plugs (I charge my igniter with my phone charger with a home made charger!) had 2 quarts but a little over one left, and I have a set of all screws and nuts needed for backup.

I know if I went New I'd have a nice truck for that money but it was all in incidents not one big payment.

I'm so addicted lol
but what do you guys think?!

Wrenching and repairing is half the fun, and if you can do it you're enjoying it.
It doesn't matter what you buy, you have to pay to play.

couldn't agree anymore. I'm happy with tinkering and with the fun in the end when running it! can't wait to get my old sh going to have as a backup!

but just got a word back from my parts guy

60 for
4 new tires
the 2 speed with gear
the glow wrench
both sets of drive cups
and the servo
Not bad ehh?
I hate how much I have in it but I'm having fun with it all

I can give you links to his listing, but it won't be the same prices as mine, I tell him what I need he gives me a price, the more I order the more I get off
the tires alone are 30 and the tranny and gear are 16 and the servo is 11 both drive cups are 13 total and the wrench is 3 and shipping is 8
so I'm getting like 21 off that's not bad at all!

Man don't even bother with an 11 dollar steering servo. It won't hold up. Get something that will last and you will save money in the long run.

it's the same as what was in it, which I actually liked and worked great for me at 7.2 volts
I want something waterproof though

That's how you do it! Just take what you have and make it the best it can be. As long as it keeps improving, throw more stuff at it. Make it the best at whatever make it is (except the 810---I have the best one of those). ;-)

Send some pics of it, man!

I'll deff get a video and some pictures up today. she's a little dirty from the last two days :):D;):first_place:

the new motor is actually quite a bit bigger, when the body is on it pushes against it as before I had plentry of room with the stock!
I'm happy and becoming proud of her!
can't wait to get my new parts ether!!! :first_place::D:):D:D

You can get some scissors made for lexan and to make the engine hole in the body larger. Also, think you are running a RedCat, correct? Parts are cheap, so take advantage of that. There might even be some aftermarket parts you can put on to increase quality.

Also, what do you mean by "with the new tires I'm buying washers so I don't eat through them like I did these"? What tires are you/did you run?

there are, I can replace every plastic part on it with aluminum, including rims. there's hop up kits as well, but I might slowly build mine up, and the fact that my parts guy gives me great deals helps alot!
and there the stock tires that com3 with all volcano s30 trucks, plastic and the nuts screw against them, but I went from 1hp to 2.1hp so I've got quite a bit more power, hence the chewed tires. ill be adding small metal washers to prevent this with the new tires! I'll upload some pictures soon , I just got home!

and on another note, I think I'm going to build this up, and take care of it, not pound it like intended. like actually take care of it

To be honest, instead of continuing to dump so much money into a cheap rig, you ought to save your cash and get a good branded rig. It will sold all of your problems you are having. I've never even heard of washers for wheels.

I put plastic washers between my hex hub and steering blocks.....I think that's what they're called, but it wasn't to take out slop/free play it was to keep rocks/sand away from my bearings.

it's a used rig, the wheels were junk to begin with. the new motor has 2x the horse power.. the tires are already cracked and junk. the washers are so it can move till I get my new tires. the new washers will be for extra safety on the new tires. they were built to a 1hp. not 2.1. its my first truck. I am going to keep it, I enjoy it. I like working on it and I'm happy with it. yea I've got like 400 into it, but on top of a new one, I have a bigger motor with 2.1hp as to 1hp. I've got a lot of spare parts, fuel, a 2 speed tranny as to a 1. splash proof reciever, the stock motor I can have pinched or rebuilt for cheap, and. some parts I ordered spares of to have. I have backup drive cups a back up 1speed tranny 2 usable spare tires, a backup dog bone, a backup set of screws throttle and brake link set
and my total spent is EXACTLY 359.16$

that's a good idea, the washers I'm talking about are between the nut and rim, the used tires have been so uses there cracked and the hex bolt they sit on has eaten the inside of 2 of the tires, making them junk, you guys will see in my video

There is a lot of truth to this. You really need to analyze what you want vs what is available. I believe you should make what you have the best it can be...BUT understand it's limits. The one downside with RedCat/Exceed is the parts are cheap. Re-read that last sentence if you don't get it. I know I encouraged you to throw more stuff at it...but that was only "as long as you see improvements". Once that stops...time to close the wallet. ;-)

It seems like you are very passionate about this hobby....and that is awesome! I'll let you know something you might not want to hear. My first nitro was an Exceed (same as RedCat). Basically did the same stuff as you. Then...I stopped chunking money into it and "upgraded" to an OFNA Hyper 7. You would not believe the difference in everything (quality, speed, agility, durability, etc.) that a mainstream rc vehicle has compared to what you are running. Again..IF you love what you have, keep at it until you understand its limits. But if you are serious about this hobby, and really want to "pound" something...try out a true hobby grade rc vehicle.

The #1 think you will learn about this hobby....you really do get what you pay for.

If you like your RedCat MT....putting something like the HPI Savage in your hands would be like going back in time to the silent film era....and showing the theatre something like the Terminator 3 in HD w/surround sound, etc. I'll split your wig

I am very passionate! just with some more people lived by me that do this and wish my local hobby ship still carried nitro
and I know there's a limit, and trust my I will know when I hit it. I haven't decided if I want to put this all aluminum, I'm probably not gonna, it's pretty much brand new now, it's getting a 2 speed and its a 2.1hp motor, that's about its upgrade limit. now is when I start putting money aside, and I've been looking the last few hours on craigslist and eBay.
I'm already thinking bigger my friends=) :):D
I plan on getting the better half one so she can enjoy and not hate it so much lol, she hasn't been getting much attention lately :\
I can't wait to get a second truck! a new set up different everything it's like starting all over and with something even better

it should love me for what I've done to her
I'm juat a little attached it being my first and all, but I want to put money aside for a new savage!

My first nitro was a duratrac evader. Like what you got now, not a great rig. Dumped way to much money into it, before I wised up and got the losi and the t-maxx. Wish I had that money back to put into the good rigs.
