Beason, congrats on the new bird man. Indoor helis are a TON of fun for sure. From the MCX, look into moving to an MSR and then decide what you want to do from there. Much like georgabulldog, I also picked up a DX6i without receiver or servos, and I'll never go back. Also, as mentioned, if you decide to go full on CP helis, get a good sim like Realfly or Phoenix, it will save you a lot of money down the road.

Once you master the CX2, you should skip the fixed pitch and move up to a CP. Another fixed pitch would just be the same, only a little bigger. Learning the stick movements are the important part of flying ANY heli.

I'm going to disagree with that. It all depends on the fixed pitch bird you buy. And the jump from a CX2 self stabilizing design to a full on CP heli is a HUGE jump IMHO. My Honey Bee FP V2 (fixed pitch) feels almost identical to my Blade SR in the air since it's a 90 degree fly bar design, but it is WAY more durable and cheaper to fix when the inevitable happens for a beginning pilot. I've augered it in from 40 feet up, popped the linkages back on, and straightened the fly bar the best I could at the field by hand and put it right back in the air. No CP heli I've ever owned would have taken that hit without major repairs. I myself never would have bought one if it weren't for some of the guys on a heli forum recommending it to me, and I'm glad they did. You can get one RTF that even comes with a cheapo sim and PC cable for less than $100.

well i broke the little guy today. was flying around the upstairs loft (while standing downstairs) missjudged the space and clipped the banister. I broke the little fork that holds the fly bar. I will run by the hobby shop saturday and get another one. Maybe pick up a battery or 3.

I had a guy that was going to trade me a RTF msr for my TC4, but I'm not sure i want to do the trade. It had extra parts, and some of the glow in the dark stuff to, but i just didnt get the warm and fuzzys after talking to him. I dont want a rig that has been abused. May just wait till after xmas and pick up one.

been doing pretty good. I'm getting good at controlling it and getting braver with my controls. I seem to have a problem though. It has been sitting for about a week, and i went to fly it this afternoon. I got movement of the flybar in all 4 directions, but no spin to the rotor. I had to cook dinner and havent had time to try a different battery or anything.

So the cyclics are working but the throttle isn't? Try turning it all off then letting the TX be on for 5 seconds with throttle all the way down, and make sure the trim didn't get bumped up. These blades are set up with a built in failsafe.

i tried off and on a few times but i didnt let it sit very long. we had some friends over last night and someone tried to mess with it and all it would do is flash the light really fast. I didnt see what he did so i just told him the battery is probably low, and to leave it alone. the trim is buttons, and not a slider, but i will check that to.

yep it looks like it was the trim. the throttle trim was all the way up. i lowered it and it works now. glad it wasn't broke.
