I have spent the last several years trying air filters and looking for the best one. OS makes a good reliable one called the superfilter, but the problem is its aluminum center tube is small and restrictive, plus it costs $35 - 40. I have killed 2 engines over the years because I was too cheap to buy the OS. Instead I tried countless others, like the Kyosho (dense foam, too restrictive) the motorsaver (retainer pops off, allowing the element to fall out), and multitudes of ofnas, etc, etc.

Well OFNA just came out with a new one that looks like the best deal yet:

It is #10136. It has solid construction, low restriction 2 stage foam, a big open center tube, and even comes with oil, for $8.95 retail. I got it at www.nitrohouse.com

Looks like it is missing a part for the center?? Am I right?? Just curious! I still say motor saver! The little cap has never popped off for me!! Just my $.02

I always use the OS one... it is great and i have never had ANY problems with it, except the foam is a little to dense (I agree). my buggy came with extra foams so i use those and they are GREAT. :2cents:

It's there Woody, just kinda hard to see cuz it's so dark. I also thought the same thing before I looked a little closer.

I run the same type of filter except it's from GS Racing. Mine came with two ends thoiugh. One is jus to cover the end and the other is for extreme conditions, it's covers the sides of the filter also

look at the round black piece on the left, there will be an "X" close to the top of it. that is the end of the center piece.

BTW I'm running motor saver on my buggy right now, and am wondering how many people have had there caps pop off with motor savers. I've heard of it happening before, has never happend to me me but if a few people on here say it has happend I'm going to switch ASAP, not trying to kill my engine like that.

I like the K&N filter and Picco used to make a great air filter that was a lot like the K&N. My stock HPI filter does fine, I just have to keep it clean and a filter that gets dirty fast is a filter that's WORKING! If you ain't cleaning your air filter every half dozen or so runs you need to ask yourself where the dirt is going.

I ran this new ofna filter on my buggy yesterday, a Storm with a picco 26. I'm convinced now it is the best filter. It flows so much more air than the OS Super filter I had to open the hsn 1/4 turn. The improvement in top end was noticable.

Alkyula, the motorsaver cover came off twice on my Hyper 21 8p. I caught it right away the first time and figured I just didnt put it in right. It came out a second time and I didn't notice until the engine sucked up a pea size rock, making a sick grinding sound and locking up.

I don't like the moto saver filters, because the end of the filter doesn't have the pre-filter. its basically your primary filter and thats it. I prefer a filter that has a cap on the end of it and use only the prefilter and main filter.

I have had good luck with the RB Air filter. It is more expensive then the OFNA filter but works very well.

I too never had good luck with the Motor Saver filter

the stock filters on both my buggies are built like that ofna filter. i like them a lot, i may pick up that ofna filter for my savage when it gets here.

I'm actually running a Dynamite Air Filter that is just like that ofna. Almost 100% identical. I'll have to pick up the Ofna and compare the two.
