For the first time in a long time I can't go long form on my taxes so I figured I would do them myself. Everything seems fine except I can't e-file. For some reason I kept getting rejected saying my birthdate doesn't match IRS records.
I've checked and confirmed with SSA that they have it correct,my previous tax agent has it correct but with some digging I found that the IRS does have it wrong. They confirmed that instead 06 for the day they have 16.
So what I'm wondering is,can I file and use the wrong date(it's only used for verification for e-filing)and then get it changed later after the rush season is over? Otherwise it's a trip to local IRS office to spend hours in line then hassle with them about why it's wrong in the first place.
I've heard that this is happening a lot this year, anyone else having this problem?
