Drag Racing Tmaxx
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello again fellas, It has been a while since I have been on this forum and I have missed you all. I am back with some very important questions, so please help.

Over the pasted several months, my friends and I have drag racing. We currently have three classifications, which are
1. buggies
2. monster trucks
3. on-road / touring / freestyle

The winner from every night gets to wear WWE championship belt for a week, and the loosers must all crown the winner his belt at the same time! The pictures are lovely.

I now have this problem, I need to make the utlimate drag racing Tmaxx Please answer the following because they all relate to drag racing. Before I begin, let me tell my set-up on my Tmaxx.
os .18tm engine
22/72 clutch bell / spur
resonator pipe
on-road racing road rage
6volt hump pack in front
tc3 fuel tank
645 high torque servo
reverse
Also, it is the Tmaxx 2.5r version.
Main problem, I beat the guy off take, but he blows past me on top end speed.

1. What are the best tires to use?

2. What transmission is better for drag racing, a two-speed transmission or a three-speed transmission?

3. Does any one have this three transmission? How well do it work for you? Click on the link and you will see it. http://www.thercproshop.com/product...d=535&MAXXid=928dfc44c6b893667532da4c4d0d9dc1

4. What are the best gearing for drag racing, both for take off and top speed?

5. What is a good drag racing body?

6. Should I keep or remove the reverse module from my transmission?

7. Please share on input or advice which you may have?

Yeah ditch the reverse for sure. Do you happen to know the specs of the other rig ? Are there rules to keep the class competative (sp?) . Like do you all have to have the same fuel , engine , gearing ?

Awesome project first of all. Lose everything you can to shed as much weight as possible. You could always get slicks. I know Panther makes some nice slicks. I'd even lose the front drive, that's a lot of weight saved.

You want a spur gear with fewer teeth... I had a 68 tooth before.
You will see better results with a clutchbell with more teeth.
Of corse whenever you gain top end you loose acceleration. So you have to play with it.

This sounds pretty cool....can you use a bigger motor? I have the OS.21tm in my Tmax and it runs great....I agree with loss of weight would be the key as well

Does anyone vidoe these races? I sure would like to see one taken place

Loose the reverse and servo, remove the front drive/diff, replace the front tires with smaller/narrower ones, soften the rear suspension, drop 1 tooth on the spur and go up 1 tooth on the clutch bell. Loose weight anywhere else you can.

For a body, the E-Revo body looks nice.

Plus 1 to that, :first_place: Sounds like someone knows what they are tankin about

I would squat the suspension as much as possible. Zip tie the a-arms to the shock towers to compress the shocks for as much drop as you're looking for. If it's dedicated to pure straight line drag, swiss cheese the chassis (drill holes in it to save weight.) Super-small fuel tank. Something that can hold enough fuel for one run only. I would say a body with a very low profile like some of the new truggy bodies would be the way to go. The additional wing wouldn't hurt either for some added down force. I would also agree with losing the front drive components. This will save lots of weight in front. This being said, you most likely will need to fabricate or modify an extended wheelie bar. Not one that will allow to ride wheelies, but one that will keep it down to the ground where the power is made!

stampede spur gear

Right now, someone also suggested to me that I use a 66 tooth stampede spur gear. Also use a 24 tooth clutch bell. They say if i want to use a 64 tooth spur gear, i might need to modify the chassis.

Also, I am going to remove the reverse and the servo for it.

I've been running a 3 speed in my tweaked .21 powered maxx and never had the first problem out of it.......pulls great wheelies and hits 60+ too....
