I went fishing today for a Fresh Water Mermaid but only got Bass. Ill have to keep trying for the big one.

It was a slow day only pulled 4 out all day long up to 4 lbs. Caught 2 of of the same stump within 5 minutes. The more I look at the pics I think it may have been the same fish.A hungry BassTard he was....

Nice catch!!!!! I have been wanting to go out to the lake and try my luck :)

Nice man I need to get me a boat I miss fishing so much. Nothing like being on the lake when you should be at work

damnit eddy, what are you doin with a friggin fish. I'm looking at that lake behind you drooling over how sweet it would be for my nitro boat.

Those things would make the perfect Halibut bait! Dont get me wrong I am not making fun. Looks like the perfect "big Halibut bait." I only have gone bass fishing once and it was fun.

Next week baby! Next week! I close on my house on the lake next Wednesday, and plan on moving in my boat, fishing gear, hammock, stereo, and last, but not least beer that day. Just too bad I then have to work Thursday. Oh yeah, nice fish Ed!!

Here is a pic of a small mouth I caught last spring in Presque Isle, Penn. It was trophy season which means you can only keep one fish, and it has to be 20". Mine was 18.5", so I'm calling is 5 lbs.

I've used balihoo for bait that are bigger than that man.....LOL...I've only fished salmon for fresh water fish so I'm not too schooled on Bass I guess that's a good size?????....I'm sure the little guys are fun too if you got a hole you know you're "gettin some" at :naughty:

I've only fished (rainbow) trout out of the streams here in Northern California (near Shasta). Definately bravo on the bass! The hardest thing I've pulled was steelhead - they fight like no tomorrow. And that was out of the Sacramento - It passes right thru town.

*sigh* Now ya made me want to get a boat! lol

Its not HUGE but its a good size for the lake a tad under 4 lbs.
The norm fore the lake is around 2 lbs just a bit smaller then the one in the second pic. The spawn is over and there is a huge amount of fry in the water keeping the byte from being good. The larger fish are up for grabs but far and few between. This along with clear skys and a full moon stacked the deck against a good day.

There is a big difference fishing fishing big water. Bigger bait bigger fish :p: I like it all. Large mouth bass are a good fight I use light tackle to keep the sporting element alive.

I was fishing, where were you? :D

That fish looks yummy, did you eat it?

I don't want to highjack Eddy's thread, but if you are talking to me no I didn't eat it. Had to be 20" to keep, and I don't eat Bass anyway.

Hey Eddy. Is a Fry like a Shad? If so Why do they keep the Bass from bitting? I almost always catch on cast into where the Shad are busting top water.

99% of my fishing is catch and release.

A month or so ago was spawning season. This is when they lay their eggs for the year. Fry is what we call the baby fish just after they hatch. They make easy meals for the small to mid size fish. The larger fish don't usually mess with the fry because it take way to many to fill them up. They expend more energy trying to catch enough to make a meal. They just hang out and wait for something larger to eat. A Large Mouth Bass can eat a fish close to half its size.
