I have a [ofna ultra gt lx] and i want 2 know how fast can a buggy go?
......... why dose [kyosho inferno mp7.5 2/3 kit] cost so much Is it fast?
My buggy is an on road set up, it looks fast but my firends [mamoth]is faster,
my buggy is stock and my budget is low

It all depends on what mill you put in it!! My self i have a pcr w a ws711 in it and it runs around 45mph. i had a cop clock it with his radar gun at 38 but my clutch was slipping bad.and he said he couldn't get a good lock on it at the time

a firend had the same buggy as mine. its all hoped-up, it was doing about 70mph
it beat a [traxxas 4-tec] in a drag race! til he smash it into a wall :hammer: krunch

I questioned that too, but upon re-reading his post, I realized that he wasn't claiming it went 70 MPH, but instead it was doing about 70 feet.
Now I believe it.

ohh. ok, yea i can see that happening, but i wonder what engine he was running in it??

what gearing did he have? two speed? Engine model?

Re-Look, he did say MPH! 70mph in a buggy?? Better have a second gear!! I find it hard to beleive though!

I was asking when I posted this.

I think that posting without hardcore proof is very unlikely that this happened.Been said many times. I have a buggy and 70 mph doesn;t seem likely with a 13t CB single speed ( I am guessing as this a standard )

I think that Woody and all of us are saying ...SHOW US THE PROOF!!! :boxing:

Yeah it may look fast but 70 MPH is FAST. My stock Storm buggy can take my Rustler in a drag race, but only b/c it has better traction. And the Rustler will do between 45-48MPH.I would say a hopped up bugggy will do around 60MPH,then more speed will run into the big $$$$. A 4-tec will do around 60 MPH BTW. Just my :2cents:

we did not get a cop to clock it but it did beat 4-tec in drag race .he had velcro around the batteries and they came out at full speed

Hmmm...that is interesting. I have some hopped up buggies and have seen some hopped up buggies run. We even clocked a couple of high speed runs...and came no where near 60MPH let alone 70MPH.

I'm not saying it is impossible, but I would say improbable. As for beating a 4-Tec in a drag race, that is highly probable and depends on a number of things. Perhaps the 4-Tec spun its wheels more than the buggy. Perhaps the 4-Tec was a crappy runner and poorly set-up. Perhaps the gearing on the 4-Tec was set for low torque to get the acceleratio off the line...and thus sacrificed top speed.

Regardless, the lack of hard proof is going to kill any thread that starts with something along the lines of "I saw a _______ RC do ________MPH!"

All you really need to know is that a buggy doing 70MPH over the terrain it was designed to run on is a bit more than most drivers, including some experienced drivers, can handle. They are more than enough fun in the 30-45MPH range. But if not satisfied, the best upgrades for speed are better engine, proper gearing, and the right differential set-up.

its hard to do but it can be done. i have seen a k2 hit 74 mph. the chassis was modified to let the motor slide over a bit more for a HUGE clutch bell. i believe there was also a slightly smaller spur gear involved too. the motor? rody c5...very lean!

a common misconception of two speed trannies in buggies is that they give more top end. not so. they only give a lower first gear for better acceleration.

the battery came out at top speed? thats weird. just because the car is moving fast doesn't mean there is any extra force to cause something like this to happen. it must have been loose from the beginning. I'm also guessing this is what caused the car to go out of control and smack a wall? INGENIOUS!!!

and omg please dont ask for proof. i have no idea who the guy was and dont even own a video camera. if you want proof bite me. i know what i saw and have no reason to lie about it as it wasn't even me who did it. if it was- i would get proof for bragging rights.

As I said, "not impossible," just improbable.

In your post, you provide a probable situation. A Rody C5 with a clutch bell larger than the standard 13-16T, a spur with fewer than the standard 42-46T, run very lean over a decent distance on a parking lot or packed dirt level track just might produce a 70mph+ run.

But I would still question the need for turning an offroad vehicle into a rocket like that. At 70mph you could easily fly that sucker for some monster air, but running it on a track in a race...you might never get that speed or be able to control it at that speed.

I say BS if you can't prove it then don't post it!!! you will ridicuiled abuot this for ever. do i smell a JR. kwong...so flash prove it or bite ME

Well I dont need PROOF,but how did you come up with 74 MPH? Venom speed meter,or did someone clock it w/radar? It is POSSIBILE,but just saying it beat a 4-tec in a drag is no big deal or a way to tell it did 74 MPH.
