In my quest as a father to do as much as I can to help my kids to do well in school. I think I may have 'screwed the pooch' on this one............the pooch being myself.
Our school district requires a parent/teacher conference at the end of the 1st quarter (at the middle/elementary school level). Any further conference is not required unless requested by the parent or teachers. I feel lucky that both my kids do well in school. So after the 1st quarter I made a deal with them, I told them for every A or A- they get on their report card, I would do 1 lap around the outside of the house in my underwear and shoes. Knowing full well that it would be the dead of winter when the next report card came out, I'm not sure that was the best idea.
Both of them had A's in every subject one at the end of the 1st quarter. My daughter advised me that her B+ in science is now an A. So apparently daddy is going to be doing close to 10 laps around the house in a couple of weeks.
