f4.6 idles for a second and dies

i leaned it out the tiniest bit and whenever i stopped the rotostart, the engine would stop running, too. i then started to richen the mixture and it would run a little bit but i had to pull the throttle trigger or it'd die after a few seconds so, i kept making the mix richer and richer but i still got the same effect. i finally lowered it back down to a 1/4 turn past flush on the rich side and tried to remove the glow igniter- it killed on the spot. i didn't even bother to lean it out and remove the glow igniter cause i knew it'd die as soon as the rotostart stopped. nevertheless, i managed to make it through half of my tank of fuel on the rich side pulling the throttle every few seconds to 1/8-1/4. i only made it to half because my glow igniter's battery died...

Thats good. At least you finally got some fuel at it. Keep at it and youll be driving it soon. My Picco .15 was the same way. Now she runs like a champ.
 
Well, that tells us that it's getting closer to where it needs to be. Get you batts charged and get ready to run another tank. Raise your idle to keep it running, and as it warms up, give it little blips on the throttle. If it gives better response to the blips, richen the LSN a little more.
 
actually, my idle is already so high from tinkering with it (trying to keep the engine running), the wheels run without any throttle... think i should raise it any more? if anything, seems i should instead be lowering it but, when i do, engine kills so much more easily.
 
Just do what you need right now to keep it running. Make tiny adjustments on the LSN and give the engine time to settle in before you adjust any more, or go the other way with it.
The more it runs, the closer you get to dependability.
