hey guys! i just got a revo 3.3 from a good friend of mine for free. when i put the ezstart wand on and turn it on, it will make contact/spin the motor over for a fraction of a second and then the ezstart motor will spin freely. i think its the one way bearing maybe? I'm not a noob I've been around rcs for a while now but i personally hate ezstarts so :\

also jdm, I've found, if its cold out and everythings contracted, it helps to warm up the engine with a heat gun or hair dryer, seems to help owb,s bite when the shaft grows some...........

seems to help bite when the shaft grows some...........[/QUOTE] I don't wanna be that guy but that's what she said, lol

thanks for the input guys. i took my motor out which was a pain in the ass took at least an hour because i didnt have a long allen wrench, cleaned the owb with my nitro slighty, put it all back together and tried starting it for 15 mins probably. started to slp again. i know i didnt do a good enough job cleaning it though, maybe because the owb was stuck inside the housing. ill try something tomorrow, but as soon as i get some extra cash, i will be buying a pullstart because ezstart is a pain

The bearing could also be facing the wrong way on the shaft. which way are the letters facing?

A pull start uses the same owb. What fuel are you using? Tuned rich? Flood the engine? Oily fuel and/or a rich tune will bugger the owb up and cause it to slip. Whether you have an ez start or a pull start.

Is the OWB still stuck in the plastic housing/race? I think you need to replace that plastic housing. If it ever got stuck, it probably lost its integrity making the owb prone to get stuck in it again. The plastic housing is probably spinning around the owb.

This happened to me. My owb fell apart and got stuck. Then the race just slipped around it. Even after replacing the bearing, the race would still slip.

@matt: i havent even ran the truck yet my friend said its been sitting for a month sooo

@dean: I'm confused on how you said that

Sorry to confuse you. Lets start with this: is your owb stuck in the plastic housing? Or was it ever stuck in the housing?

Sooo, as deanwrx is trying to explain, if the housing that the owb sits in is cracked, it will spin around the owb and not spin the engine. If it is not, and the owb is slipping, it needs to be cleaned. The owb fits tight in the housing; it may not just fall right out. I've had mine stretch to where the owb would fall right in and out, but never had one break.

yeah for the couple past days I've got it running good with the blow dryer tip. (thanks whoever said that. @dean its stuck in the housing. remember i didnt know that it was like this when i got it from my friend. i got it for free so I'm not complaing lol. i guess its just still dirty

i personanly would get rid of the ezstart and go roto start.
u had same prod with my revo when i got it (used).
put in a new OWB and switched to rot start and prblem is gone

I have recently had a similar problem, had the gear that is pressed onto the ez start motor shaft start slipping. Traxxas support was also telling me that it was the OWB, but after soaking in DA for 2 hours and doing all the recommended troubleshooting they still thought it was a bad OWB, this just did not make sense to me so I continued to troubleshoot it myself. I narrowed it down to the gear on the ezstart motor shaft by using my thumb to put pressure on the OWB and press the start button the motor would spin but gears would not and this was after all the gears had been inspected several times. So basically I just wanted to share in case someone else had this problem because the guys that I talked to at Traxxas could only narrow it down to the OWB.

so your saying your motor pinion gear went bad?
