my exhaust keeps disconnecting from the header.. what can i do to fix it.. i keep pushing the header pipe back in that rubber piece and they keep coming undone. i tried zipties with no effect:censored:

Take a screwdriver and flare the end of the header. It takes some time and effort, but it does the trick. If you have a pipe flarer (plumber tool) it works well also.

I have recently been using RTV the heat rated stuff.........to "glue" my headers to the pipe....not to much or you make a mess....but a nice thin bead along with the gasket and let it cure.....works wonders....

I can't believe that works! It's hard to find stuff that will stick to aluminum that isn't just tape. Are you talking about the typical loctite sensor safe RTV? Or something special?

The standard RTV sensor safe stuff you get at the auto parts store.

The TRICK is to let it cure..........its like glue........it won =t last forever....eventually the heat and nitro pry it loose......but it will last for several sessions if cured right.

the flaring should do the trick, i dont know about the rtv glue thing, i havent had any good luck with that...

I've flared my headers and stingers befor so the coupler or deflector will stay on better. with a flair and a good zip tie, it will stay

....

run a screw like so

aha never tried it or seen it done..

Pipe coupler

I just bought a fantom racing pipe. It says not to use the stock pipe coupler. Anyone know of a "best" coupler for this setup? I have the os .18tm. I haven't tried my lhs, but I figured someone here could help.

Thanks!

I used the stock black one. It worked fine...

Did you get a pipe like this:

I used the fantom works natural pipe with the 18TM header and the stock coupler.

The only problem I had was that the weight of the pipe would strip the threads of the body mount where it mounted to the pipe hanger. I ended up drilling a hole in the rear tower right above where it mounts in the stock location. Then I made a new hanger out of heavy wire, ran a bolt through the tower and loop on the new hanger and used a locknut. It worked much better that way.

Thanks for the response. I used my stock coupler and it seems to be fine. I did have a problem where the stock hanger won't fit into it's designated hole in the Fantom Pipe. I plan to use the belt sander at work tomorrow to reduce its diameter accordingly. Can't wait to try out the new setup!

:ahh:
