hi i was just wondering what the exhaust pipe on a nitro car/truck is made off not the end pipe but the bit wot attaches to the exhaust outlet/ attaches to engine? help please???????????:\:\:\:\:\

Mostly cast aluminum. Atleast all trucks i have own is made of it.

Usually no other material is used becasue of the conditions and heat involved. Steel breaks down after a short time even more so with conditions IE. water dirt ECT. most ppl dont wanna polish there pipes just to look good.

Some are made better than others. Most of traxxas headers for the 2.5 or 3.3 just plain stink. Really thin and tend to crack where they are welded to the header flange.

is aliminum able 2 be heated up and bent?
as my exhaust is sideways so i wanna bend it backwards to make it rear exit? if not does any1 know of any ideas?

Don't think you can without cracking it. Any aluminum I've heated and bent cracked easier.

What vehicle is it? Got a photo of your setup? May be able to find an alternate header for you.

Cast alum can't be heated up and best because it is forged. Not regular alum like pop or beer cans can be but the more heat will make it fragile..(like from france). My advice if you not happy with the form or size or design of your pipe ( doesn't sound good) but look for an aftermarket or maybe find a machinist. They may be able to help. :) But the more you heat up or mess with cast alum and or forged the worse mess you will get i nthe long run.

its a schumacher fusion 21

have a look mate as I'm buying that exact 1 reply a.s.a.p many thanks

The link you had didn't take me there. Item #: 280428068939 does though. It was in the link.

Where do you intend on running it if you run it out the back? You kind of don't have anywhere to put the actual pipe?

The only RTR rear exhaust touring car I know if is this one:
http://www.hobao-racing.com/products/hyperOne7/hyperOne7.php

But it's engine is oriented forward instead of sideways like yours. May be able to finagle it's exhaust pipe to work though... The header is another story. Worst case, you can just rotate it 180 degrees, then it points out the rear, it's just up in the air. Or you can cut it right before that bend forward and finagle some sort of silicone tubing to couple to a pipe in the rear.

A header like this would be cheap to try it with:

I'm sure you could bend it a bit once you cut it, but I wouldn't try to bend it too much or it will crack.

A savage header may get you even closer:

Regardless, you will have to get pretty creative to put an exhaust in the rear.

plug one end of it and fill it with sand. Then pour water down through that sand and let it dry so it is compact. Then plug the other side, heat it up and bend it where you want it.

olds97_lss i thought i could bend or get a manifold that would bend round asif the pipe would sit straight along the back of the shell then with the normal hole at the end of the pipe another piece of pipe will come down leading to 2 small pipe that will come out the back of the shell flushly

gnarkill. does that work then with the sand and water ?

and sorry i mis understood that mate i mean 2 run the manifold around the side with the pipe sitting along the back like this one

May not look "factory" when your done... but yeah, doable.

There is a company out there that makes tubing for stuff like that even off a side mount exhaust. If I can find it, I'll post it.

that would be great mate i need some pipeing to weld to the pipe that will lead to the double pipes any idea of wat material?

Well, you could just use copper tubing to build the part that goes from the pipe out the back and just use a silicone coupler to tie the copper and exhaust stinger together. That would be the easiest route.

yh ok mate ill start off doing it soon and ill update u on how its going n so on
