Anyone have any tips for getting this on. Following the instructions isn't working as the entire muffle header setup with the slightest touch will get knocked out of alignment and tear the crap out of the silicon seals. :help:

The easiest I've found is to not have the exhaust mounted on the end until you get it on the engine. Lube the exhaust port on the engine with some light oil/wd40/3-in-1/aro (one of those), slip the o-ring into the header, work it on the exhaust port in a twisting/rocking fashion. Once on, hook the spring on the tank side first, then with needle nose, grab the other end, pull and hook it to the other side of the header. I use two springs for extra security and a good seal. Once that's done, I mount the exhaust hanger wherever it needs to be on the other end.

By the way, what engine is it and what brand of o-ring are you using?

Its the k4.6 and stock equipment for the ss4.6. I used needle nose pliers on the spring got it hooked up but as soon as I moved it the thing shifted off the exhaust port and got all messed up.

Why can't the damn thing just bolt on like a motorcycle or a car!?!?!

I'm not sure I understand just how it could shift off the exhaust port. The header should fit over the exhaust port of the mill. With the spring attached, it shouldn't be able to come off easily... Maybe some pics might help...

Sounds like for some reason you're not getting the header all the way on. Which is a bit unusual. Do like Olds said. Rubber flange gasket goes on the exhaust port. Then a light oil on it. Slowly twist the header onto the flange. When it's all the way on, you'll only see the outermost part of lip of the gasket. It should be nice and tight and not rock. Then put the spring in one hole and work it around. It does take some force to get the spring on, but it sounds like you're able to do that. Just sounds like you're not getting the header seated all the way on the exhaust port.

Thanks for the responses! But I've found if I skip a few steps ahead and bolt the engine to the chassis and put the muffle on the spring, it keeps it from shifting the gasket while I pull the spring around.
