what is a good thing to use to clean the engine i have the carb, cooling head and starter off its covered in dirt and i want to clean it i just really dont feel like completely stripping the engine down

Nitro Cleaner or starting fluid (outdoors). or nitro fuel and a towel, simple green.....many options really....

Denatured Alcohol from Wal-Mart. You can put it in a spray bottle as well.

I cover the carb/exhaust holes with thumb/finger, soak it with 409, then hit it with a scrub brush or toothbrush. Then I rinse it off with water and dry it off with canned air.

i live in canada and we dont have denatured alcohol up here, what is a good substitute will methyl hydrate work as it is a base of some denatured alcohol

From a bit of quick googling, it seems that methyl hydrate is about the same as what we have for DA. Should be a fine substitute for you.

thanks i did a little bit of googling and came up with the same results so i will try it and see what happens
