What are the recommend parts that i should get when i upgrade to the pico .28. so i can start looking now also can anyone tell me what i need to get for that puppy to use a roto start. I still using most stock parts accept rpm control arms. Using stock 47t spur as well as stock clutch bell.

Thanks again

Generally, I'd say run what you've got until it breaks...

What parts you may need to upgrade depends upon which version of the Savage that you're starting with and what's on it.
Have you upgraded your servos or radio system?
Does it have a failsafe?
Does your Savage have a rechargeable battery or are you still using AA's?

If your model started out with or has the two gear differential, I'd upgrade to four gear version - or buy these in advance as you will be needing these.
A lot of folks are switching over to Savage Flux diffs.

Roto-starts have a corner or middle cup and I've found that for most (but not all Savages) that the corner cup works best. Here's two examples that fit Picco's.
Corner - http://www.amainhobbies.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=OFN50006&x=4&y=6
Middle - http://www.amainhobbies.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=OFN50010

Then there is the roto-starter itself, plus it's battery, and if you don't have one - a battery charger.

savage 4.6 rtr

Sorry i forgot i did upgrade to spectrum raido and upgraded the steering servo. The truck is a 4.6 savage rtr. Would the flux diffs help. Also can i use the existing clutch bell and internals aswell as the spur.

Thanks...

If you shim your diffs properly, you shouldn't have to buy new ones. If they do break, buy bulletproof diffs, but replace both at the same time.

what about existing power train like spur gears and such. also shimming the diffs is that done internally in side the diff or outside of diff case.

For gears, as long as your meshes are right, you shouldn't have any issues. You could upgrade to a steel spur, but then you need to get a hardened bell too. Shimming the diffs is easy, but it depends on the shims you get. Some shims go between the diff and outdrive cups, and some go by the bearings.

If you get eh Hellfire shims (HPI86598), they go by the bearings, so you don't have to take the diff apart. If you use the shims that come with the Savage, you have to pull the diff apart to get the outdrive cups out, then slide the shims on the cups, put it back together, test and repeat if needed.
