when i first start it up it runs great...probably for the first 5 minutes or something it has great power and response...it will flip on command...
but after a few minutes, like after it gets good and warm, it will just quit...
You've done a lot of unnecessary things to it already. What you describe is exactly the symptom of being too lean on the LSN.
If it gives you great takeoff as soon as you start it, it's too lean. It should warm up to running temp first.
If it quits when it warms up, it's because it's too lean on the LSN.
A simple twist with a small screwdriver would have solved your problem.

well i have to disagree...
i too thought it was a too lean issue so i started slowly richening it out...i went about 1/16-1/18 a turn each time i adjusted it and tried to get it to run...after several hours of tuning i decided i had another problem...i richend it slowly to the point that is was to rich to run...i don't know I'm starting to get discouraged..
ill try it again though...just to be sure...thanks for the input...neeeddd innpuuuuttttt...

Try retuning with a fresh OS LC3 hot plug... Then retune as needed from there... I didnt see one post asking how old the glow plug was/is...

Could be part of the culprit...

mate it sounds like uv cooked the engine, can u remember did it show any signs of over heating the last time u had it out???? check the compression, spin the fly wheel with ur hand/finger and if it spins freely then its cooked, ul need a new piston and sleeve.

ment to also add, check the compression when its warm

I had the same problem with mine. After trying to figure it out on my own the end result was the push rod was faulty and ended up breaking and breaking my piston at the same time I would look at your piston rod and everything that it entails. Because you opened the engine and sealed it traxxas wont replace it with a new or rebuilt one. If you don't figure anything out your best bet would be a after market engine hope this helps

i have had them replace a couple that I have messed with....... through traxxas without any issues.

To me it sounds like the engine might be shot, meaning that it no longer has enough compression to run. When my 2.5 went out, it would run great until it was warm, then it wouldn't stay running for anything. I don't know how it might have acted after tearing it down and cleaning it all up, because I realized that it was done before I tried that. So my suggestion is to check and see if it has compression, if the flywheel turns very easily, then there is too little compression.

Same here, I've taken them apart to see what failed, Traxxas swapped them out with no problems what so ever...

I called traxxas today about my 2.5R that I bought this past monday, told the guy (Brian) basically the same exact symptoms you stated, and he said it is a dead give-away of a low compression problem from either a bad break-in or just defective. They shipped me a piston and sleeve (no charge)and hopefully it will be here monday. I will update once I have it back together. The guy was super nice by the way.....

I had to richen my lsn alot more than looked necasary on my 3.3 when I had to get a new motor from them. the lsn was different from the 3.3 I put on my classic. I know it sounds wierd but all of my tmaxx's are at a whole different stting on the carb to get the motors running mint. I dont understand why they are that way but hey i found my happy medium yeah it took me a few tanks but thats half the fun of the hobby.... take a deap breath and it will work alot easier with a clear head.. your lsn. and instead of four turns out try 5 and mess with lsn, if that dont work try again thats about it you gotta get familiar with your engine truck and its sweat points and the weak points.. good luck

well that pisses me off...i just called traxxas and they basically told me tough poop we'll trade you for a new one if you want...they told me they didn't replace any engines or engine parts...and seeing as i have 0 dollars to invest in a new motor it seems i will be out of the hobbie for a while....i have 2 3.3's that wont run now...i took the engine off my revo to use on my t maxx...the revo needs other parts...and it worked for about a day and crapped out...i haven't ran either engine hot...they were broken in just as the manual suggests....the 4. on my savage is still meaner than hell and it has seen some abuse through its life...as it is my step sons and i caught him running it lean and hot and i know it wasn't broken in completely before he cut it loose...i have come to the conclusion that i do not want another traxxas motor at all...here is my new question....what would be a good direct replacement for the 3.3....something that is not outrageously expensive....at least i can decide what i want to save for....lol
thanks guys

When they say trade you for a new one, they might mean send in your current engine and they will replace with a new one, I've done that twice now with traxxas customer support, I think they rock!

yeah they are pretty good on trying to get you back out running your rig..... everyso often things get defected.. what you could also do is take both motors apart and see if there is enough good parts to make one... and it could be cheaper to fix then you think...... I have had good luck with a couple 3.3's and bad luck with a couple other 3.3's.. its just like a real car dealership you never know i guess... sometimes the 3.3 works for some people and other times the 3.3 dont match the way you run and drive your machine....

no they were very clear that i basically had no option but to buy another engine...$110 + my old motor...he said they didn't replace any engine parts defective or not since they had no control over the treatment of the engine...i have called traxxas twice now and got the same answer both times...so...i was kind and curdious...i explained my problem clearly and expressed that i was unsatisfied with the product and that i believed it to be the fault of the engine as it has not been abused and used fairly little...now i am unsatisfied with traxxas support and my traxxas engine...honestly i doubt i will ever again own another traxxas engine...

When did you buy your t-maxx ?

If its within 30 days I say they should honor your claim and you send your engine in and get sent back a new engine... This has been done for me twice now...

They ask for a copy of the reciept be sent in with the engine for the claim to prove its been 30 days or less.

I'd try calling again, be polite as can be, explain everything and see what happens, it doesn't hurt to try one last time...

well the truck was purchased last summer but it has been ran very little...like i said aobut a gallon through it...maybe gal and a half...but yea it has been way more than 30 days...i understand them not wanting to do anything about it but that doesn't change the fact that i have 2 3.3's that have went down in a rediculasly short amount of runtime...the savage 4.6 i have has 3 or 4 gallons through it and its still a rocket...

There are a few direct drop in replacements for the 3.3. The best of which being the Picco .26 which is a completely nasty motor but you are going to spend a few extra dollars on it.

If you don't mind doing some very basic mods the Losi 3.4 is a nasty little motor that can be had for cheap on eBay and makes the T-Maxx a beast.
