i just wanted to make sure about my temps before i got crazy again with shutting it off and letting it cool every 10 min. i was running my onroad today for about 2 hours or so. not even barly going WOT more than 4-5 times with about 1-2 sec bursts. but even without going WOT i had engine temps of about 250-255 tops. i just wanted to know how it could be that high with my engine still tuned for break in. its just about as rich as it can get with that little popping sounds when i gave it some gas. I'm scared to lean out my ride cuz the temp was very high. i just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem and if there is something i might be doing wrong. or if this is just normal for an onroad

i richened it up as much as i did when i broke it in, i didnt have this same problem. its in about a half turn in from being flush. ill richen it up a bit a see what it does. ill keep you posted. thanks rolex!

you said you put a tuned pipe on so you should have to re-tune i had to re-tune when i put a new pipe on my truck

I am having the same problem with my warhead .27 tiger engine.
I called the company and even the people who have designed the ebgine.

First, I thought like everyone says that it should not go higher than 220-240 and after break-in maybe 180-190.

So i was scared when i got to 320-340 but the technicians explained that it really depends on the engine size (of course !) and if you're running with a big engine (like i do), then it is not abnormal to run higher temps.

Like for my engine, it is normal to run at 320-340.
After break-in it should go down but still high at like 250-280.

So be careful about what people say if they don't know what kind of engine you have.

The trend these day is to go with much more powerful engines that will run much hotter.

It does not mean of course that you should not do a precise tuning.

take care.

i got no higher than 255 than i had to shut her down cuz i didnt want to burn it up. i only go for about a nice 10-15 min run than it get to that temp and i either let it sit at idle for a min or two or i shut it down and put it in the shade. i have a crappy VX-16 engine. i tried looking in my manual for engine temps but it doesn't have any. i might try giving them a call.

It's no problem, bro. I've run the crap out of my near dead (due to a non oiled filter) VX-18 and it runs at a steady 270 (and yes, it is tuned right) with no body. It's too cheap to break. What I would do is buy a nice OS .18 CVRX and then run the VX until it dies, although I'm not saying you should.

I do alot of drifting on the street corner with the buggy, so I'm sure its the constant up-down of the throttle and the fact that it rarely goes above 20 mph that heats it up.

i had min going up to at least 40+mph. i was also giving it some driftage on some turns on a block where there building new houses. building=no old people yelling at me =]. but thats good to know i can lean her out a bit =] ill let you guys know when shes up and running again. i got my first broke parts. its bitter sweet lol

I'm guessing i hit it on a weak part and it broke the both side bolts holding the engine to the mount. but being a mechanic/body man i have buckets of extra nuts and bolts. so i found some new ones to throw in there =]

yeah its about time. and i made sure that if i have that clutch spring break on my again i bought 2 more just in case hehe. its like you have to be one step ahead of these nitros to keep them up and running
