First question what should the normal temp range be for a nitro engine? Second question would be has anyone tried to place a electric fan in the area of the engine to force air over it, and would this provide anything for cooling? I'm thinking about trying it and wondered if anyone else had thought about it?

engine temps vary alot with conditions and type of powerplant, but a general rule of thumb is about 240-280F. You can also do the simple water test.

As for the fan, I am sure it would help n some instances, but with most trucks, the air going through the cutout would be going as fast as the air coming out of the fan so i thin it would be a mute point. might work for fully covered bodies though, although it would have to be awfully strong, and light. If you decide to try it, take some photos, and let us know how it works!

I think Kyosho Makes Fans for engines, but Just cut some holes in the windows of the body.

Thanks for the help, I'm still trying to figure out where and how to mount the fan but when I do i'll post some pics

fr8, I'm sorry but I have to agree with NitroAddict. Fans wont help much unless your idling for a very long time. If you do get this fan on, I wanna see some pics though. You should just try tuning the engine untill it stays at the proper temp range. If your temps are unreasonable-310º/320º, you better check for an air leak.
