I just got my t maxx today. I read the book and watched the dvd twice. I followed all the steps. When i started it up, it started fine. When i tried to slowly take off, the engine just revs up. This happens in reverse also. Any suggestions to help me? Thanks.

Brandnew?

how far are you pushing on the gas?

Mine took quite a bit to get going when it was new, Some people are just nervous to pull teh throttle a little more.

Try giving it more gas to see if it will go.

Yes it is brand new (it was the first time it has ever been started) I didnt give it a ton of gas because i heard that this could be very bad for it. On the dvd it doesn't sound like it revs very high to get started, thats why i didnt rev it too high.

bah gas it up baby, just dont have it aimed toward a tree or a wall or something. if you see it gerk a little bit dont worry it does that :) gun it first and if it still does not work ask some more q's

on some of the truck the clutched seem to be a little stronger then others.

I think you may need to gass it up a bit more to get it moving.. Not to worry once it starts to break in the throttle responce will start to come in.

Maxx wont move

Check the following:

Step 1

Make sure the pinion [gear on the motor] is making contact with the spur gear [big gear on the transmission/gearbox]

Step 2

Check that the spur gear has not stripped - if it has - replace it with a steel RRP product. The teeth should be visible.

Step 3

Check the slipper clutch - tighten the nut in the center of the spur gear all the way down then llosen it by about 1/4 turn.

Step 4

Check that the transmission is not stuck in neutral, which may happen when the motor idles too high. Reduce the idling and select reverse on the transmitter. See if the selector shaft in the front of the transmission moves. Select reverse, gas, see if it moves. Select forward and see if it moves.

Step 5

Assuming non the of the 4 steps mentioned helped in resolving this problem, take the MAXX to a hobby shop or someone who knows nitro trucks

Follow all the things listed above.
Step 4 above is a good place to look. Use your finger and press the shift rod all the way in then give it a try.

Don't be afraid to give it a bit more throttle, just don't peg it all the way. Once it starts moving it will jerk a lot, this in time will get better as the truck brakes in.

Good luck.

Yupp i agree that step 4 is prob. the culprit,if not then the other guys have a point it will take a "decent" amount of gas to move the new truck and i have owned a few and some have a clutch that seemed to kick in a little later than others esp.when new. So if the trans isnt stuck then give her some gas, just not full throttle though.......and like eddy said it will have the herky jerkys when you first get it moving untill its broken in and tuned. Let us know!

MAXX

when ever the truck is new u have to give it some gas to get her moving. so dont worry about it and give it as much gas as it takes to get it going, but when going let off some.
