So pretty sure I've killed my 3.3 now I've got to decide/find a replacement my main hobby shop in my area is www.frontlinehobbies.com.au so I will look there first. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Don't really want anything over the top just a 'drop in' replacement would do

What I'm looking at so far:

https://www.frontlinehobbies.com.au...Start?LRP Nitro Engine Z.21R Spec.3Pull Start

https://www.frontlinehobbies.com.au...Spec.3?LRP Nitro Engine Z.28RPullstart Spec.3

https://www.frontlinehobbies.com.au...t?LRP Nitro Engine Z.18SPro Spec.3 Pull Start

If these wont work I'm open to suggestions and ordering from the states (I live in Australia) if I have too.

Also would I need a new clutch and flywheel and a new clutch bell?

I'm currently dropping the lrp in the tmaxx but it's a big job I needed to upgrade everything also the chassis to its pretty much not even a tmaxx anymore lol

Picco makes a drop in replacement for the Maxx and the Revo. I currently have 2 of the Picco Max's in both my rigs and they are great engines! I would recommend the Picco Max .21, it also comes with the motor mount!

Can't beat another 3.3 off eBay for the price. Esp if you rebuild your old one..
Or if you want something a little more exotic grab the new Pico max .21

So I've had a look around on tower hobbies web site. What do you all think of the OS .21TM looks like a tidy little engine with a bit of go behind it as well

Both the OS and the Picco .21's are similar and both are great motors, the Picco is a little cheaper priced than the OS and quality is the same! YOu can't go wrong with either of those power plants!

I ended up going with the OS21TM engine! It hasn't let me down yet!

I'm leaning towards the OS I can't seem to find the picco max engine at a good price anywhere Tower Hobbies can post me an OS fairly cheap and I can order a whole heap of RPM upgrades while I'm going. Might even get the Traxxas steel driveshafts

before you buy that os ,which is a good engine maybe look at the ofna .28jl its a drop in with the ofna mount and will walk all over the os and is about $50 cheaper than the os.
to me the os really isn't that much more powerful than a 3.3 with the obvious difference being the os is way better quality and holds a tune a lot longer. if you are looking for just a replacement get another 3.3 and use the leftover spendy on rpm gear and whatnot ,but if you want something with bulk power and easy to tune get the ofna .28 . now , some may say to run a .28 you need a bb exhaust to get its max potential but I can tell you I have run both a stock revo and a true bb exhaust on this engine and the only difference is in the top end the bottom stayed pretty much the same ,pulling wheelies like crazy even with 17/36 gearing.

How would the driveline hold up with the increase in power? Would I need to upgrade transmission gears or diff gears, steel spur? Also would the intergy alloy clutch for the t maxx fit?

I am still running a completely stock truck ,stock driveline .the only thing I have upgraded is the m2c clutch which I'm using the yellow 0.95 springs in.
if the clutch fits a 3.3 then it will fit the .28. it really depends on how you drive your truck as to how long components will last ,if you lock the slipper and thrash it stuff aint going to last long.
I have never really seen the need to use steel trans gears even with big block power ,I'm running a true .28 bb in a maxx and the trans still has reverse with opti drive the only thing that has been upgraded is the diffs to brushless spec.now of course if you want ultimate reliability then steel everything but for under 20 bucks you can replace all the gears in a revo/maxx trans with the stockers ,I have done one full set in my first maxx and that was with around 10 gallons of hard driving /track use.

Thanks heaps for the help guys especially you chickenman I know my questions sometimes might seem a little straight forward so I really appreciate all the help I get. If it wasn't for this forum or the people that use it my rc experience would've been long over and my maxx would be sitting on a shelf not being used.

Hope my tax return comes back fast this year I have an engine to buy!

With the Ofna did you need to run a different manifold or does the factory manifold work?

you can run the stock exhaust no problems , I would drill the stinger out just for a bit better flow but if funds permit I would suggest a ths bb pipe set mated with one of @Racer 1966 bb adaptors ,you may need to pm him to see if he still has any but.

if you have any other questions just ask ,the only engine I haven't run so far is the new picco .21 ,yet lol
