Hi,

I have just got my HPI MT2 RTR (2006 it think) out of storage and it is not in a good way. I have not used it in about 2 years. I have cleaned it all up and got everything working again but I think the engine is finished.

The cylinder head is fused on so I guess there is no chance of rebuilding it. So it looks like I need a new engine so I am looking for some recommendations.

Ideally I would like something I can slot straight in to replace the HPI T15 so I don’t have to buy a new bits. I know how to use the roto start so would probably be happier sticking with that rather than moving to pull start. Unless pull start is better? I am looking for a easy to use, reliability rather than power. I am not looking to spend a lot either. I have read that OS engines are good, would the OS Max 12 CV-R, side exhaust be a good choice?

What are the good brands to look for? Are Ho Bao any good?

Sorry for the long first post and thanks for helping.

Being HPI you can always pick up another HPI engine and it will bolt straight to the chassy. If I'm not mistaken if you use another after market engine you will have to purchase seperate motor mounts. You can always hit up the HPI website to see what they offer now and get a good idea on the price range. I think Tower Hobbies still stocks that engine the last time i looked for one anyways.

O.S. and Picco make the best affordable small blocks. HPI small blocks are junk. Shop towerhobbies for a good deal on something that will fit.

+1 on O.S. And Picco. They are excellent engines and are usually very reasonably priced.
