I have the t-maxx 2.5 my AF came off a long time ago. took the carb apart then found that i striped the thread on the carb body. Replace it and take it out ever since all this has happened it doesn't run right.when i let off the gas it sounds like its reving down if that makes sense. its kinda hard to explain on here but some where between the AF coming off and the new carb body i think something has gone wrong. maybe its just me but it doesn't sound right now and its kinda harder to tune.sorry if theres a typo and thanks for any responses.

Let me see if I got everything straight. Your air filter came off and you've been running your engine without one for awhile. Then you decided to take the carb out and replace it w/ a new one. And ever since then, you have been having rpm problems and tuning problems. Is this correct?

If so, I would suggest that you might have an air leak around the carb. An air leak will give you those symptoms that are stated above. When you put the carb back into the crankcase, did you use any type of sealant? Also, did you put an air filter back on it? I wouldn't recommend running w/out one.

Give us a little more details.

no sorry it came off and i cleaned the engine out took the carb apart and cleaned it too and put it all back together then i ran it again with the AF took the carb off again and found that i striped one of the threads in the body of the carb.Had to replace the body of the carb and thats where I'm at now i have replaced the carb body and have just started to run it again. I noticed that it sounds different like i said it sounds like its reving down.or like its decelorating. Sorry if i wasn't clear in the begining.

Ok, no problem, I have three questions for you:
Which screw is stripped?
The one that locks the carb in place or a different one?
Did you use any type of sealant when you put the carb back in?

The skrew that was striped i fixed, but it was the one that sticks out the side on the side of the hsn if that helps. I dont use any sealant to seal the carb never have since you are asking this it probably means i should though.

I would use some sealant just to be sure. Is the screw the one on top of the carb in this pic?

If it is this is the idle screw.

na its the one that sticks out the side on the right. near the hsn on the outside.
would thread lock do the job, the blue kind.

You want to use sensor safe high temp silicone. You can find it at auto parts stores. Put a little bead of it around the carb neck. Make sure to clean the hole the carb goes into and the carb neck with some alchohol and a q-tip. Let it dry, apply the sealant to the carb neck, put the carb on the engine where you want it, tighten the carb neck bolt down. Let it sit overnight to cure.

I also use sealant on the backplate of the engine. Do the same cleaning steps, then where the backplate seats on the crank case, apply a small bead of silicone, install backplate, wait overnight.

A little silicone goes a long way, so don't be real generous with it. Just enough to make a good seal.
