hi i have a t-maxx 3.3 and the motor will not start. when i use the easy start it turns over and fuel goes into the engine, there is nothing wrong with the glow plug that i could see. sometimes it almost starts but there is alot of fuel coming out of the exhaust. also when it does start (which hasern't been often) it will not drive forward. i noticed when i took the engine off the t-maxx the clutch bell turns but when the throttle is pulled it won't spin. Can any one help?

Sounds like the Engine is way too rich,Take the glow plug out and spin the motor over a few times to clean out excess fuel, Go back to your factory settings and start your procedure over, As for the clutch bell it will spin freely until the engine makes enough RPM's to engage the clutches, Hope this helps.

i tried that and it still didn't run, and the cluch bell won't spin when the throttle is pressed even when it is full throttle, I'm not sure but i think there might be something wrong with the transmission, and it still is having trouble starting (occasionally starts but stalls within about 5 seconds). also i noticed it is hard to push along (gets stuck in one spot)

can you tell me why my engine is doing this?

Well your pipe to tank line is way too long, but I doubt that's it.
Set your lsn at flush.
Check the obvious stuff like your lines, tank, and exhaust.
Does your carb have a 1mm or smaller gap? It almost acts like the carb is closing down on the lsn.

The only reason it looks long is because there is no rear shock tower on it at the moment, I also made the lsn flush with the slide and there is still a 1mm gap and it still not running so I am thinking of taking it to my not so local (55km away) hobby store and see what he can do there

i see when your trying to start it the axles are moving when it trys to start......and if it wont move when you push it around, then you have a transmission problem or a broke spring in the clutch, pull the engine take off the clutch bell and make sure all your springs are good and nothing is broke. Thats where i would start.

Nothing wrong with the engine clutch, you can hear the spur gear spinning freely once the engine stalls.

You need a new glow plug.

i think i found what was wrong with it. there was not enough pressure for the fuel to keep flowing into the engine but i need to charge my easy start to find out. then i will need to put the tires on aswell so i can check it, i also put a different glow plug in.

If the pressure line is clogged, I could see that being an issue. It would burn the fuel in the carb, but create a vacuum in the tank since it's sealed. If you disconnect the pressure line and lift the fuel cap, can you blow through the line?

Going back to the glow plug...looks like you are using the blue ez start wire attached to the glow plug, right? What if your wire is buggered. Do you have a glow plug ignitor handy to try out? Just thinking that maybe you need more juice going to the plug. Also, what fuel and plug are you using? You need a hotter plug for a lower nitro and visa versa. ie: I am using a MC59 hot plug with sidewinder 20%.

I need a new glow plug wire any way but I have talked to someone I know who thinks there is a hole in the pressure line. So that will cause the lack of pressure or it might not be connecting to the exhaust properly. He is also one of the guys who fixes them in my town so he does know what he is talking about. I am going to try what he said to do but I am trying all suggestions

The pressure line is a helper, not a necessity for running. It helps force fuel into the engine when your accelerating, but a pinhole in the pressure line or completely disconnected pressure line should not make it not start.

What glow plug are you using? Brand/temp? Really sounds like it just isn't warm enough to keep going. What is the ambient temps for where your at?

Personally, I'd get an external heater and not rely on the ezstart for heating the plug. Then you can heat the plug for a few seconds before dumping fuel in on it like the ezstart doesn't do. Makes for easier starting and longer lasting ezstart batteries.

They are pretty cheap. I like to use one that takes an AA, then I use high capacity NiMH AA cells in it (2400mah+).

I have this one: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJUJ7&P=7

I charge the batteries with my peak charger with a 2AA and 4AA holder, or glowplug adapter to charge just one. But, you can buy a pack of 4AA's with charger at any box store (best buy/walmart/walgreens...) and use it instead.

I am using the glow plugs that came with the tmaxx, there is no reason for me to use a heater on the engine because we are in 42 degree celcious heat during the day. Also the engine isn't starting due to a lack of pressure so the fuel isn't a constant flow.

By "external heater", I meant glow plug warmer. To replace your blue wire so your not relying on the ezstart to heat the glow plug. Has nothing to do with warming the engine.

They will start and run without that line at all. I know they will as I've had mine come off periodically. All it does is causes it to lean out when your punching the throttle.

Have you changed brands of nitro recently? I would highly recomend getting yourself a glow plug ignitor. It will deliver more power to the glow plug and therefore a hotter burning plug for starting. Once I changed over to the ignitor and ez start method, I never looked back. The blue wire can be a bit of a PITA sometimes, since it can get frayed from taking it off and putting it on and sometimes can come off just enough to give you problems when trying to get it started.

Just my $.02
