So i am out bashing with beason yesterday (had a blast) and hit one of his ramps full gallop with the revo. I totally lose it in big air and land on my lid. Breaks engine mount in two pieces but motor survives. ever happen to anyone else? thought for sure crankcase was toast.:D

Yeah, I broke the Traxxas mount across the screw bosses when I high centered it on a curb. The stock mount is a pot metal, cast part. The strength leaves something to be desired, however... better to break the mount before the Engine.

It's a fact that the motor mount wasn't the strongest in the world on the 2.5. When they did the redesign for the 3.3, Traxxas added an engine mount brace. I think they could have done a bit more, but that's just my opinion.

I agree 100% with your comments. The heat sink head hit so hard it broke the carb throat by getting jammed into the spur gear. What is odd is that the spur gear and the crank case survived. I think in this case, as mentioned is the mount gave way and saved the rest. a good thing and thanks for the input guys.

you got it fixed yet? i ordered a new motor for the sc10 last night. maybe you can find a brace from a 3.3 rig cheep.

or not land on your lid, whichever :p:

torn apart but not fixed yet, i need to try and stay off the lid but it sure was fun to watch!!

Hey blake, ordered the big bores last night for the other. you still want that motor and esc from the other?

I'd still check your motor for hairline cracks right under the mounting flanges. That's where the 2.5's like to crack. Right in the 90 degree corner under the flange. I have 4 of them that cracked there in one summer!

will do olds. i checked it pretty good but will check there again at the spot you mentioned. thanks for the help!!

Another good way to prevent damage is to install a roll cage on the truck.

yes sir, cage is a no brainer. did not think i would need one on this rig as the big air was held to a minimum. Guess it is time if i am bashing with Beason :hehe:

go big or go home right??
