Just wondering as to how long one of these engines typically last? Big block engines in particular, I have the S-25 in my Savage now, and am on my 3rd gallon of fuel, I guess what I am asking is about how many gallons of fuel can a person get thru one before rebuild time (on average)..........thanks for any help on this issue, if it needs a rebuild I'll rebuild, but plan on getting a Picco .26 in spring

just depends on how it was brokin in and how u run it, most of my engines i get about 4-5gallons before i rebuild but some might get 10 gallons and then some races might run for 1 gallon.

Cool, well I think I did a fairly good job in the break in, but I have noticed it is getting a little harder to tune, could be close to rebuild time eh? Or maybe just due to the cool weather, either way I'm still having fun with this hobby, even though at times it gets discouraging, seems like as soon as you get one thing fixed and bash once something else has to go wrong..........though I am getting a good list of hop ups installed as I go! LOL

if it is getting a little harder too tune, it might just be the weather outside also, but more then likely it is starting to get to the rebuild. how is the compression?

Still has resistance when you turn the flywheel by hand, I can't really tell if it has gotten any less, don't really seem to, hell I have only really gotten to run it once in the last 3 weeks, so I am hopeing it is just a cold weather factor, it was only in the high 30's here today

same here, it just might be that u havent run it for a little bit and the weather

Cool, well it's supposed to be in the mid 50's tomorrow, maybe the little warmer weather will yield better run time for me, I think I'm gonna reset everything to factory settings again and try to tune from there, my idle seems to be a little higher than normal too, I think my linkage is out of wack, could have got moved while I had the engine out for over 2 weeks waiting for those aluminum clutch shoes.........thanks for the advise Bryan, hope you have a happy and safe new year bro!
