hello all what happends to a rc engine when you get it smoking hot not smoking a lot but it was smoking hot now hard to tune and dies any tips or is it blown lol?

hot engine

Generally when an engine gets really hot like that the seals on the front bearing get compromised and will let air into the crankcase, making the engine run lean. Usually the glow plug will go bad as well when the engine gets hot. Try a new glow plug, it might help, if not, you will need a new front bearing- usually less than $10.

I have a motor that had a leaky carb and ran hot, very hot. Now the motor has split into two.

Put in a new plug and RICHEN the needles. It must've been running too lean.

Invest in temp gun. While I never tuned to temp and always performance it will give you a rough idea where you are running. Typically anything above 280* is the danger point
