Engine help please

I have had my nitro boat going on 2 years now and its a pig of a thing to start! like its most happiest when its not running and about i year ago i gave up on the thing, now I'm close to some water again i want to get it going so i gave a it a clean, de gummed it and started turning the flywheel and it was tight for a while till i got it looser now i tried to take it out on the water and for an hr and a bit it wouldnt start, i know the glow plug is fine (reads 6/6 on my glow starter) and the nitro (16%) is only a couple months old and always stored in a cool dry place,the A/F mix pin was turned to factory spec of 3 turns and it was primed and the head nuts were tightened
Now i got pissed that it wouldnt start, so i started thinking maybe it needs to be torqued over till it runs as it hasnt run for some time , so off it went on to my makeshift engine stand and out came the electric screwdriver and a 14mm socket, Even then the Effing thing wont start, its mega free now except at the compression stage where it has a slight impedance
I'm at a loss at what to do i really love this boat but the engine is a royal bitch :\
Has anyone got any ideas on what to do?!! its a GS21MR engine from kyosho

i have been r/cing fore only 6 mo. but my idea is eather it needs oil to seal the piston , or it needs fuel. ask around where you live to find stright methanol. in Wichita i found some at a speed shop. for $2.75 a gal its hard to find in small amounts. use it to wash things and put a small amount in the plug hole so its got fuel in the engine. i use marvel mystery oil for after run oil and on the air filter, it seals pistons very good, but NOT for running. castor oil is best for running.

yea it has castor/ synth blend in the nitro and also it has only ever run probably 3 maybe for 4 litres of nitro in its whole life

Put a few drops right in the carb and see if it sputters when you try to start it. If it does, then you know you have a gummed up needle in the carb.

Replace your glow plug. Just because the meter reads good, doesn't mean you're getting a hot light.

thanks, will try that one , but as it goes that glow plug has never run a tank as it was new a year ago

Well, over time, the fumes can cause the coating on the filiment of the plug to go bad. Then it won't fire very well... or at all.

It's best to replace and try a new one just to rule it out.

i just did some glow plug testing, realy its battery testing. with a good plug i tryed three bats. one was 1.1 volt, one 1.2 volt and one 1.3 volt. these are nickel hi bats. it seams VERY hard to get one to 1.4-1.5. with a glow plug rated at 1.5 v we are starting with 2 strikes . heres what i found out.
1.3 volt the plug was very brite.
1.2 volt the plug was red but its a question as to if it would light a fuel mix
1.1 volt not even the hint of red.
iam thinking of setting up a system that doesn't use bats. i think i can set up a LM 317 voltage reg so i can put 1.5 v or 1.7 if i need

The sub-C rechargables are 1.2, and that's the common one most people use. You can also have a standby backup ignitor with a C or a D cell. That's 1.5.

are the c and d cells that you are talking about rechargables? iam going to set up a LM317 voltage reg it run the glow plug, i will feed 12 volts to it and get 1.5 or 1.6 or 1.7 or 1.8 with a 4 pos switch to change volts.

You CAN use rechargables in the C or D ignitors, but then you're back to 1.2V. I've always kept a D cell ignitor on standby with an alkaline battery just as a back up since the sub Cs can go pretty fast if you're having a starting problem.

This one is your best bet. It should last the entire season and will put out 1.5V.

bought a new glow plug today, was shocked how much they have gone up in price last time i bought a O.S medium was like 5$ now its like 18$ :O i hope its just that , but i have a feeling it wont be

Wow... $18! That's flat out robbery! I've paid as much as $8 at my LHS. Still too much for a consumable item IMHO though. I can buy spark plugs for my 1:1 that last 100K for a few bucks a piece!

haha platinum plugs for my real car cost me over $60Per, then again i do drive a turbo subaru :/

UPDATE: got the thing to turn over!! and omg it revved reealllly high and hard on idle and god its loud ,ran for a while after i pulled fuel lines, as i wasn't expecting it to run i didnt set up a water system for the head its a water cooled one, now to find another pull start or a electric start ones i seen you rc truggie boys have
