Ok I finally got my turd truck and got it all broke in (heat Cycle) and on my way to tuning it. Now It has a pretty good tune on it now just had to lean thre HSN like 1/8th of a turn from factory but yet it still runs between 260 and 280. This is about 70 degrees outside on 30% Odonnells fuel. now if its running this hot now won't the temps go up when its about 80 and 90 outside? My concern is is this a good temp or is it still to high I dont wanna richen it up to much. Its one of those cheapy GOTECH 3 port .21 deals. Its just gotta last me the summer and its all good from there. Any help will always be appreciated. :)

How much fuel through it? If your at less than a gallon, then expect the temps to drop some as some of the pinch wears down a bit. Most of my engines ran warmer than I liked until around a gallon. Once they fully seated and were at max power output, the temps dropped to a more normal (220-250) range.

280 is a bit hot for me... I'd maybe richen it a bit to keep that below 265 if you can.

Try to consider how you're using the truck too. Does it have a body on it? Air holes in the body? Tall grass or hard ground? High speed runs or lots of donuts? Larger than stock tires or tall gearing? All this will affect you temps. If it's making good smoke and sounds ok then it probably is ok. Being a cheaper engine it may have an air leak too.

I just broke it in I have one or two tanks left in the gallon I used to do so. So its pretty much in the babying stage. All needles are set factory except the HSN which is about an 1/8th turn lean on that. No doughnuts no bashing or anything to that nature. I an running with the shell off and till its fully broken in I have been taking it up to full throttle only after it warms up fully and its not a constant. So Ill gradually take it to full then make a quick pass and bring it back down, check the temp and run again. I think the hottest it go to was 285 and I was a lil worried about that so I shut it down to cool off. THe glow plug is still shiney as hell and it still has pinch so maybe I'm just being jittery. I was thinking is was the higher nitro content in the odonnells I Was using. But then again this is the only part of this that bothers me.

I guess if you're making good smoke and running well then it's probably ok. The problem now is when you do start beating it, how hot will it get then? I would switch to 20%, you won't notice much difference in power, just temperature.

Richen the LSN a little once it gets up to operating temp, see how that does.
Don't always trust a temp gun. Very few are accurate.
