Since there is already a thread for all of the top end buggies running, I figured I would stir up the hornets nest with a thread to allow everyone to fist fight for which engine is the best.

So which is it? I was thinking three categories, best stock, best modded (what ever that means), and best power for the dollar.

Please justify your answers (hah, sounds like an essay question in school). To make this a useful thread for future reference to newbs such as myself, please try to make answers based on fact, not just because one engine is your favorite brand or has the highest list price.

I think the best stock engine is the hyper 8port. The best performance engines are probably the novarossi p5 or the rb S7 or ws7II. :fro:

This is a simple awnser, and its not a hyper 8 port with air leaks and tunning hassles, its any NOva based engine, RB NOVA IDM etc, nova engines have been proven the best for power and longevity, ease of tuning, and high prices, and if there most exspensive they have to be the best :))))))))

Ok, Mike, to clarify then, which Nova engine model would you say is the best stock, modded, and best value for the dollar?

No the hyper 8 port isnt the best engine. He asked wats the best STOCK engine.
YA your right the novas will out perform a hyper 8 anyday but novarossis' arent stock engines.

well I like the OS..........
LOL this kills mike
RG.....
hey mike I blew mine up from some dirt the other weekend and I sold most of the parts for 75 bucks....that means I paid 17bucks to use it for 5 gallons and I'm selling the crankcase and crank for another 10 this saturday....then I'll only be out 7 bucks to run a mill for 5 gallons......NOW THAT'S WHY I LIKE EM SO MUCH.......not as buch ass as the big dogs run but still punchy enough for me right now......
I also like the Fantom .27......I think I fiddlesticked mine up when I was breaking it in......so the jury is still out on the longevity of them but it revs as high as most .21 engines if not higher 44,000RPM and puts out 2.9hp @ 40000RPM not race legal but fun as hell to watch everyone get caught by my buggy......well almost everyone....

Well I would have to say for the modded cat. RB modded C5. This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. The stock C5 has crazy top end with at best meadocre bottom end. But the RB mod has all the low end you could need with even more top end. I would put it up against anything anybody wants to throw at it. That should be in next weeks vid also!

What is done to an engine for it to be "modded"? Is it different internals (pistons or rods), or port shaping or what? If thats true, does this take away from an engine's warranty if it is modded, or are there "factory" modded engines as well?

I Personally Like The Novarossi Based Motors Had A P5 Last Year Lots Of Power Then Got Dirt In It And It Was Done Paid 250.00 Then Bought A T421b It Had Insane Power Almost To Much For The Track Still Running Strong Paid 350.00 Also Bought The Sirio Kanai #1 Last Year Great All Round Motor Perfect For Medium Size Tracks Also Still Running Strong Paid 250.00 I Think All Three Motors Are Great Just Depends On Size Of Track A Little Expensive But What Isnt Also Had A Ofna 25 Before I Bought My P5 It Had Good Low End Just Nothing On The Top A Decent Motor For Small Tracks Dont Know What It Cost I Took It Out Of My Ofna Titan And Put It In My Mbx5 Thats It Just My Two Cents

Novas are stock engines, there just not stock in buggy, since most good buggies dont come with engine, there not a modded engine, the rb and idm are modded engines, just modded nova engines,

If i were going to own 1 motor it would be the 421b, has insane power allround from unreall torgue to good top end, suuits most tracks but is a reall handfull, this things is insane, the ws7ii is a good motor but exspensive considering how old they are now, excellent top end power, but lacks down low, nothing a clutch wont fix though

So Nova is the best, no votes for Sirio, 1 vote for O.S., and RB is actually modded Nova? Interesting.

So I checked Nitrohouse.com, and it seems like you are looking 250 and up for anything with Nova written on it. That answers the stock question.

What about opinions on the best modded (still don't know what that means) engine, and best engine value.

Wow, I expected a lot wider range of engines. Seems like almost everyone agrees (does that ever happen???) to get a Nova. No die hards screaming picco, or os or hyper, or whatever else?

what ever matches up best to ur track, car, style, budget. then there's the RG for practice.

Stay away from the OS V-Spec! I've seen too many have problems lately. I just bought a P5, still breaking it in.

best stock engine, i would say a Medial Pro M2K (which incidentally is a factory mod version of a P5), best stock engine Novarossi 421B, best $/hp is a tough one maybe the Collari .30 if we are talking illegal engines and a Collari 7port if we are talking .21's

if you talking illegal mod engines i would say an EBMods Novarossi 528XR, sickest engine you can bolt into anything, period. able to make 12lb truggys outrun ANY buggy like its standing still, very hard on drivelines though.

how does that work, if you blew it up it means your piston and liner a stuffed, and you can't have sold the crank or case cause you sold it again, so you either ripped someone off, or............

Hey Corrado, how much does those EBMods Novarossi 528XR mills go for? Sounds like an ok engine...lol.
