Last week I bough a XXX-NT spent all week reading instructions and buying start up supplies, Finaly today I started to break the engin in. What doesn't seem right, after the fifth heat cycle ( start up let it run 2-3 minutes, checking the water drop test to see how long its takes to sizzle{2-5 seconds} the engine starts runs 10 seconds then the RPM's race and the engine dies I have also noticed that the the clutch bell and the spur gears
are shaving bit off each other....I also have to block the car to keep it from driving off! ANY help is appreciated Thanks

I would suggest u stop everyting and go out and get your self a temp gun it will make tunning a whole lot easier. it sounds like u are running to lean and your gear mesh is to far apart.

Your idle is also too high if the car wants to creep forward. Make your proper adjustments before you end up with other problems. You are now seriously overheating your clutch, and the excessive heat is also being transferred through the CB to the spur gear.
Hot clutches also will slip, causing over revving, and even more heat.

Thanks Tarant
the lhs was out of the $ 30 temp readers and i passed on the $90 one come hell or high water i'll have one soon

Thanks Rolex
I did burn up the spur gear and damaged the clutch bell ...want to replace them with a better product ... can you direct me to a web site ... or do ya think RPM will have them ?

I buy all my parts from my LHS. If he doesn't stock it, he'll order it for me, and it's there in 3 days. You'll have to wait for someone else to provide the links for you.
Being new in this hobby, without having info from guys at a local track, usually leads to a costly learning experience. Sorry about your cluch and spur going out already. In the future, if you have ANY question or possible problem, post in here, on RCNT, so others can give you advise before it gets any worse.

Roger that Rolex ...they did start to build a track close but....tanks again
