I bought a spare .18 for $16. It has lots of compression. But the engine block looks not like a regular one... the cooling head is very large, I'm thinking it's not the original one?

Cooling head looks like its from an STS engines .28 sized engine.

You didn't post pics of the bottom or back of the engine, are they any markings anywhere.else on the block?

Block design looks pretty bland to me, honestly reminds me of the old HPI side exhaust designs, but Id like to see a rear and bottom view for clues 😀

I'll post pics again when I can👍 Currently I got only this picture from the back. Perhaps the pin style starter says could be a sign?

Not an aftermarket head-definitely an old STS Engines .28 head as @slw2206 mentioned above. I’ve ran a BUNCH of STS stuff/mostly 20yrs ago as we knew the guy.. Got in on some ridiculous group buy deals, and had two of the best engine modifiers in the world knocking them out as fast as we could get them to ‘em lol.. Adam Blevins of AB Mods, and ol’ “Supertib” (Neal) of Clockwork Race Engines. I primarily ran the 7-port Turbo head, buggy, race .21’s, but did have a couple modified .30’s, and even the .28’s.. You absolutely could not beat them for the price, and they ran VERY well. Hurt a lot of feelings amongst my diehard Novarossi, and RB Concepts buddies.. Theirs were modified as well..🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Not sure on the engine itself, I’m sorry I am not more help bud..

Here’s an AB Mods turbo 7port .21, and AB Mods .30 doing work..🤘

This was about 3/4 gal mark.. I started the break-in the day this was shot. We burned a LOT of fuel back in the day.. 😜

That poor center did.. AB Mods STS no care about 500k 😅.. Titanium chassis Tazer PRT courtesy of the late Rob Bender of NitroHouse, and our very own @SoCalTazer . This was taken around 2005.

Are you helping or boasting AGAIN? Those are just about the only pictures you have! Talk about the glory days! 🤩
I'm kidding man, you always have some very useful knowledge to bring here, and I am always picking it up from you. Those are some nice cars and pictures, even though you didn't have the answer, you brought some good knowledge once again. Thanks.

I reckon both then? 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Those are just two of my favorites, as I don’t have a bunch of people to follow me around with a camera these days.. They just happen to be both STS motors in ‘em, so they were relevant.. 😜

I actually talked to my buddy that did most of my photos back in the day, and I fully plan to twist his arm and get him out here to the new track asap. He’s always looking for an excuse to get behind the glass..🤙
