This is just a little project I've been working on, and it actually works really good as far as raising rpms due to a combination of forced induction and a ram-air effect. wanted to know what others thought of it

I think you're engine is gonna be toast...you best put a big ass air filter on that thing.

i like it, but i have to say something and dont take this the wrong way. the only thing i can think about when i see that is the movie joe dirt. it looks like something that would have been in that movie.

Dude, the first thing that I did when i saw ur pics was laugh my ass of. Man, your probably gonna toast your engine. Good luck.

yo dude that's absolutely nuts...no way in hell i'd try that...u best richen up your fuel mixture for the extra air thats being pushed into there...dont want any over heating from running too lean...(keep a couple hundred bucks on hand too, u know...just in case)

take it easy

As long as you have an EFFECTIVE way of filtering the air coming in, and you adjust your mixtures accordingly, I don't see any problems with that. Hell, it's pretty creative. As large as that opening is up front, in an off-road situation that thing would just be sucking in dirt and dust. Your best bet would be to put an extremely fine mesh screen on the outside of it, and somehow even rigging up an oiled foam filter as well.
Other than the weight of that and the extra batteries, if it works it works!

I would have to agree with GBQ, if it works it works. Thats great if you do you will have a more powerful engine, but there are two ways this can go. The most likely is it will not work and probably suck dirt right in the engine and destroy it. Where as if it worked I have one word, "video"

i dont think the power gain/weight ratio is worth it , especially at the risk of blowing up a good engine. ... also, this would be more like a supercharger, being that it uses some kind of secondary power to create forced induction as opposed to a turbo which uses exhaust gasses to spin the fan inside the turbo housing.

its a good idea in theory . but rc cars just dont need turbo/superchargers.

You need a 4 stroke for stuff like that.. 2 strokes all your "pressure" is going to be right out the exhaust port, along with unburnt fuel... :(
The only way I guess if you had a exhaust pipe that created enough back pressure to match the incoming pressure from fans..

nightmare makes a good point - here are two reasons why that wont work.

1. as a supercharger - because of the fact that a two stroke nitro engine has the exhaust port and intake port open at the same time, the force air will just blow right out the exhaust port.
2. as a turbocharger - since the the amount of air pressure will vary depending upon RPM, then u will lean out the engine on a non linear curve which will be impossible to correct for.

um..

well um....uh............interesting? thats all i can think to say besides good luck have fun licking your wounds....and your wallet...:dumb:

Keep working on it, that is an interesting theory. Remember Columbus didn't discover America without some Joe Dirts throwing rocks at him as he left. Any idea is crazy, until it works.

hell if it works for you so be it, just put a filter on it so you dont suck up no dirt, Ruuun it tilllll ittt breaks!

try a computer fan, they use very little electricity to run and you can get them in a nice small ADAQUATE size (sorry i know i can't spell) i bet you could find one on a 6v or 4.8 volt and run it directly off your rx batt pack, very little weight gain and still get the fan effect, i think what you have is a bit of an over kill
