RC Driving Style
Hi there, I am considering a project using an EDF but I have never used one before. I understand that without an ESC the brushless motor would not work but I want to know if it is possible to control the speed of the fan with some sort of dial (the device will be handheld, imagine a handheld fan cooler on steroids).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I really have no solid knowledge of this corner of rc.
Many thanks,
Andi

No, because the esc is needed to convert DC to AC.

Ok thank you for the info, to run on battery power it would need to have an esc?

That's correct. The ESC uses an inverter to convert DC from the battery to AC current that the motor can use.

That's great, thank you so much for the info! Really appreciate it.
