I was wondering what I should get an e maxx or an e savage? I just many bash and I can get an E savage for $150 with every thing. I would like to put a brushless system on it some time. I was going to get the novak hv 4.5 or 6.5, what do you recommend?

I have seen several E-maxxs in action and I love them. Tons of fun. The new 16.8V Maxx tranny is supposed to hold up to brushless sytems. The E-Savage? I don't think I have ever seen one run so I have no bias either way for them.

I would stick with the Emaxx personally. Most of the parts are interchangeable with with the TMaxx. Which means finding parts are easier, and there are a ton of hopups for the TMaxx and like I said earlier... most of those parts also fit the Emaxx. Just my 2 cents.

I would also have to say E-Maxx because of the aftermarket support. I just bought a used E-Maxx about a month ago, and I chose it over the E-Savage because I buy and sell a lot of parts on ebay, and there are tons of great deals on T/E Maxx parts that you can use. I just bought the brand new Novak HV Pro 4.5 system for a revo conversion that I'm building, so if you have any questions feel free to let me know, I'm LOVING my brushless stuff, In fact 4 months ago I wouldn't talk about electric because I was all about hardcore. Then I discovered the truth about brushless and how badass it really is, and I'm now running 5 brushless systems with LiPo.

I would go EMaxx all the way.

Tons of after market support and easily convertible to brushless.

If you can wait awhile and get the $$ together, the ERevo is just around the corner.

I going to go with the e maxx. can you put the the new metal gears from the new e maxx in to an old e maxx. What upgrades should I do If i am going to put a brushless system in the older e maxx. What Brushless systems would you recommend for it, I would like good power and top speed.

I'm not 100% positive, but I seem to recall that the tranny is completely different in the new E-Maxx from the old one. I have a link here somewhere for the metal gears though, I'll look around and post it in a few minutes.

You don't have many options with the high voltage brushless systems for a monster truck. You said that you don't have a lot of money, so I don't know if brushless is really the way that you want to go.

You can get the Novak Maxx Pro system. You'll be spending about $450 minimum for the motor/ESC and battery.

the word budget has no place in the brushless world. That may sound harsh but its true. Don't kid yourself into thinking you will find something cheap because you will end up with an rc that sits on the shelf for months while you try to save cash.

I spent $1027 the past 2 weeks on just making my brushless esavage a reality. thats just an e-savage sport, batteries, steering servo, and a motor/esc combo.

I you're going single brushless then you'll need the conversion kit and I'd go with the Novak systems, probably no lower than 5.5turn. If you're going all out with a DUAL brushless system, (way cool) then just stick with the Velineon systems from Traxxas. Thay are great all round systems and are SO easy to use..

I would upgrade your whole drive train befor you go brushless or you will spend alot of time changing twisted and broken half shafts, MIP makes CVD's for the whole truck and you might think about getting these or you will be replacing idler gears http://www.rcrockcrawling.com/index.php?cPath=69_79 I have had my E MAXX for years and speak from experiance, unfortunitly I have done all these upgrades and now I have a blown ring gear to replace in my front diff oh well thats bashing for you...

Will a new e maxx tranny drop in to an old e maxx? Are the stock motors the same? I am probably going to go with the Novak 6.5.

I highly recommend you do the gorillamaxx single speed tranny conversion if you are using the old emaxx tranny. First gear is useless when you go brushless.

RCMonster has steel idlers for a good price.

That is something I think we can all agree on. The Gorillamaxx. I have one in a blinged up Emaxx and it is definately a good idea.

No the new E Maxx tranny will not fit in the old E Maxx...

This is true if you are just racing around, but if you like to crawl over stuff at low speed or do tech stuff that you need to go slow for 1st gear is very useful, IMO....I use it all the time....

Are the motors the same? What other upgrades should I do to it? I only need 1 idler gear right? I am hoping mamba's monster brushless systems will be good because I have always had good luck with them.

If you are going to do the single speed conversion the you only need one Idler gear, I have the Novak HV 6.5 system and it works great, if you are looking for more speed go with the 4.5 system...
