E clips

Does aynone have a trick for putting on E clip for the pins on the Mini T? I've installed clips before but nothing that small and ended up breaking them. This was after I had just returned from my lhs, I have some parts on order with them so I'll just pick up some more clip when I go again. Also, my steering servo sounds like it is stripping out but seems to be working fine, should I be worried about it?onder2:

hold the vehicle in such a manner that the pin is vertical. Now slide the pin through the suspension arm that is being attached just enough so that the slot for the clip is just above the top edge of the arm. Simply lie the e-clip on the arm so it's facing the pin and push it onto the pin with a flat screwdriver. The trick is making sure you are making contact the the e-clip along it's center line and pushing directly through or else they go flying... and if you're working over carpet you might as well call it a day cuz those bastards ARE little. If you can rieach the pin with a pair of needle nose, I do as Lessen mentioned up to the part of using a screwdriver. I use a tiny pair of needle noze pliers I have. Put one of the jaw tips on the pin, put the other on the outside edge of the e-clip and gently squeeze till it pops on. If you have the e-clip aligned on the pin before you try to use the needle noze they shouldnt go flying because the tip of the e-clip will already be int he groove of the pin.

I have a dedicated needle nose that I ground a concave into the inside of both tips. It helps keep everything from sliding.

Nice to know I was doing it right, they just seemed to want to break in half for me. I like the sound of specially ground pliers, I might have to give that a try. Thanks guys!

well, on the subject of e-clips. Does anyone know what size the e-clips are for the rc18t shocks? I lost two of them, and so far have gotten two packs of e-clips from my lhs, both of which were wrong. Associated's site has been no help. Their rebuild kit for the shocks lists them as 2mmm which is not correct. I really do not want to just order a rebuild kit for the shocks just to get this clip, but I may just have to do that.

well, I just did a quick measurement and the shock shafts are definately 2mm. I've always thought the e-clip size was directly related to the shaft size, maybe it's needs to be the size of diameter of the groove instead of the shaft?.?.

I don't know. I have 2mm eclips and 1/8 eclips, and they are very loose. probably has to be the groove diameter. I think I am just going to have to order the shock rebuild kit. I may check my local hardware store, but guessing that is a dead end.
