I just purchased a used Tmaxx with a .26 conversion. i got it out of the box today and got it fired up. As soon as i hit the throttle the clutch bell literally exploded in my face. I tried to pinch the fuel line to shut it off that didn't work i tried to plug the exhaust and that didn't work. I ended up having to pull the fuel line loose from the tank to shut it down and lost a full tank of fuel. When I went in and checked the tool box that came with the truck there were 8 different clutch bells tore up in the box. is this normal for a big block engine? The only thing that I have ever had go wrong with my clutch bell is breaking the spring. Oh forgot to mention that I am running a metal spur gear in my truck.

Is the Spur gear Steel? Sounds like a steel spur gear being used with a standard cluthbell.

yes metal spur gear

Yes its a steel spur gear. Is there another type of clutchbell that is out there for easy purchase? maybe like a tungsten carbide or other type of metal that won't tear to shreds when I light up my tires?

I recommend going backto standard spur but if you stick with the steel spur, then go to a RRP hardened Clutchbell for a savage. I had one but sold it. Personally, I don't see a need for a Steel spur. If your mesh is off on the Clutchbell and the Steel spur, I would rather pay for a plastic spur than a clutchbell. My opinion..

My bad.. welcome to the boards!

Thread moved to appropriate forum.

If it is a steel spur and it has ruined a CB, the spur is trash too. Start over with new parts. Trust me, it will continue to chew up CBs. Like the others said you need a hardened metal CB. I suggest a Robinson Racing set-up.

Got a Robinson's Racing hardened CB but haven't got a new spur. Checked the old spur over and it looks good. I think I'll give it a shot and see. If I'm wrong I'll let you know so you can point and laugh and say I told you so.

We won't point and laugh...

BUT we will be here to enjoy the story and help you find what you are looking for.
