I picked one of these babies up this past Friday and used it over the long weekend and let me tell you, this thing is freaking awesome!! Where has this been all my life?!?!? :) I'll never use a bottle again. One thing to note is that it comes with the 250cc bottle you see in the picture out of the box. I already had a 500cc Dynamite bottle that I just fit right on perfectly.
All you have to do to fill the gun is screw it right onto your jug of fuel, turn it upside down and pull the trigger. The bottle fills right up and then you can turn the jug back up and just leave the gun in place until ready for fuel.
Heres the cool part. To fuel the truck, you just insert the tip of the nozzle into your tank, pull the trigger and in less than you can count to two(literally!) the tank is full and it automatically stops even while the trigger is still depressed!! Then just release the trigger and pull it back out. Screw it back onto the jug for fuel at hand for the rest of the day! This is definately a MUST HAVE for racers and even bashers will fall instantly in love with this thing! I'm seriously telling you that it gushes fuel into the tank in less than two seconds and without spilling a drop!! It was $29.99. Quite a bit more than a bottle, but well worth it IMO. This thing instantly hit my top 5 list of RC items :smoke:

i was thinking about getting one, and i want one even more NOW!!

I bought one of those a couple of weeks ago. I like it as well. It proved itself usefull during the A-main of our class at prospeed. It just seems to leak more fuel than other fuel guns. I guess that's why it's best to leave it screwed into the gallon of fuel. I filled it up, and the whole bottle was emptied into the gallon container in about an hour. Bang for the buck, it's a good purchase. BTW, got mine for $22 at my LHS.

Hmmm, I didn't notice mine leaking like that but then again a bottle never sits for anywhere near an hour with me :) Hey since you have the same one, Any idea what the little round black piece that came in the package is for?

I was going to ask you the same thing. Maybe it's a replacement fitting for the tip? I just figured that if it's working, I won't even think about that piece. Then again, Maybe that's why it leaks?

The only reason I let that fuel sit for an hour was because there were so many heats at prospeed that it was approximately 1 hour till it was time for me to run again.

LOL, Damn, maybe someone else out there has the gun and knows what the piece is. I'm like you , I didn't even really look at it long since it was working. I just went with it.

Does the fill angle have to be perpendicular to the tank forming a seal, or can it be at an angle?

I mean, for some kits, is making a new hole necessary?

We've been running 200 lap endurance races at our club, and one of these would sure be handy.

holy cow 200 laps thats like a gallon of fuel and how long does it take I'm guessing an after noon and man my fingers would be tired after. i guess thats why they call it and endurance race

Its a 3-man, 3-car team enduro. Each person has to drive for 15 minutes. Your team is in charge of keeping track of the 5/15 minutes, spotting, and providing a turn-marshall. The first one we ran was 250 laps (my mistake), it lasted an hour & a half, and they want to add 50 more laps to it. We each drove 2, 15 min segments so it wasn't really all that bad. We had a couple flame-outs, a crash, and even had to do a rear tire change: and we came in third......

(we are Bug Bite Racing on it)

The laps are average 18-20 seconds each, total probably 12 fuel stops. I'm thinking the Fuel gun could shave 6 laps or so.

The ideal setup for this gun is to have the nozzle perpedicular to the gas tank since that's the way it stops the flow of fuel automatically. This is not ideal for most of us who have already cut out our holes already. When I used it in a race, it's key for the pit guy to be oriented with the gun so that his/her eye hand coordination is already familiar with the gun and it's characteristics. It's nothing that a few practice pit stops can't cure.

Fuel flows out of the gun very quickly and steadily so it is a key factor that the one using it is familiar to keep splashing and overfilling to a minimum.
